Bull Race, Sihala Punjab

One of the most popular Traditional and Cultural Sport of Punjab is Bull Race. Mostly this race is organised in remote areas of Punjab and a large number of people come to support their area's bull. In this race a pair of bulls run a certain distance like 200 to 250 meters as quickly as possible. These bulls are very special and are only trained for this race. These Bulls are the pride of their village and whole area.

Bull race riders are very skillful and they are very few in numbers. In this race, the rider usually balances on a slab of wood behind the racing pair of bulls, attached with a rope. The rider screams and try to do every thing to excite the bulls so they run fast.

As these bulls grow with special diet and care so they are very strong and controlling them in a race is a difficult task. From starting point some people also run with bull besides rider so the rider gets some control on bull. As these bulls are very strong so some times it is difficult to get them on track. If bulls get out of control then they can run anywhere so crowd must be aware of this fact.

Bull race audience travel from far away areas to support their bull. These Bulls are very expensive and cost from 5 million to 10 million. Proud owner of bull never trades his bulls as these bulls are dear to him.
