Black Physicnut (Jatropha gossypifolia)
Jatropha gossypifolia (black physicnut) grows more for the foliage than the flowers. The new growth is a deep purplish-red color. This typical flower has a watery sap, but the sap is not a skin irritant like that of other Jatrophas that is believed as medicinal plant that used to stop bleeding. The plant is always in a state of growth, so the colorful foliage is always present. Thank to the camera for showing us the real beauty of this unnoticeable plant. So, here are some pics of wild plants that I captured a few of days ago somewhere around the woodland. They distribute throughout many tropical and subtropical regions, and Indonesia is one of their best home to grow. It is considered as traditional medicine (leaves, stems, roots, seeds, and latex) and preparations (infusion, decoction, and maceration, among others) based on this plant, by different routes (oral or topical). It is included into a perennial shrub with short life, evergreen, that acts as deciduous in the arid climates and outside from the tropical and subtropical zones.
