The publication DigiTimes, citing sources in the supply chain, reports that in the second half of next year, Sony plans to launch production of the PlayStation 5 on a 6-nanometer chip.

Adjustment. In the original publication, due to an error in VGC, we wrote that the current PS5 model runs on a 5-nanometer chip, but in fact it uses a 7-nanometer chip. The transition to 6-nanometer will be a qualitative leap — it will make the console more energy-efficient, quiet and "cold".

It is assumed that the company may make changes to the PS5 hardware to improve the production of the system due to a shortage of semiconductors-as noted by VGC journalists, Sony representatives directly spoke about this outcome in a recent quarterly report.
The current PS5 model runs on a 7-nanometer AMD chip, while the subsequent redesign will use a modified version on 6 nanometers.
While it is difficult to assume whether it will be a new revision of the console or a redesign like the PS5 Slim.
