The Diary Game [11/04/2025] Attending my in-law burial//offloading and supplying my onions to my customers

I lost my in-law early January, he was the husband to my aunt and we kept him for like 3 months in the mortuary then plan on how to buried him.

I have been in the village since Wednesday because of my in-law funeral, the mourning house was open since on Sunday but i couldn't go to the village that day because of my kids so i decided to go there on Wednesday so that i can only spend few days there.

It was a busy a very busy and tearing moment in my family as we laid my in-law to rest on Friday 11/04/2025, that morning i work us by 3am, everywhere was noisy and the sound of the music couldn't let us sleep so i stood up from the room i was sleeping, i step outside and alot of preparation was on going. About 3 caterers was cooking so i didn't have to do much as in the cooking aspect.i picked up my phone and i did some recording.

So by 6am we all changed to our T-shirt because we were about going to the mortuary where my in-law corps was deposited, the whole compound was crowded with good well wishers, alot of villagers decided to join us to the mortuary. So that early morning we all went to the mortuary and behold the ambulance was not there, we had to wait for the driver and the undertakers to come.

Few minutes pass 8am the ambulance arrived and we picked my uncle's corpse to his maternal home according to tradition.

In my place if an elderly person died you have to take the corpse to the family that train him or her before even reaching his or her personal compound. So leaving the mortuary we went straight to my in-law maternal home and one of their elders came and received the corpse, about two elderly tradition men in their family received the corpse and we gave them a bottle of hot drink for them to speak a word.

So the use the drink and the spoke, the corpse was still inside the ambulance we didn't bring it down, the said alot of things that makes everyone to cry, my in-law was just 69 years and he has only female children, two is married and the last child is on the process of getting married. So my in-law is not that elderly and him leaving the family to another world entirely was something that makes everyone to cry. So those two elders pronounced a lot of words placing curses on anyone that has an hand in my uncle's death.

So we only spend like 20 minutes in the maternal family of my in-law then we took the corpse to his house for lying in state, though reaching home there was a small issue, there was no elderly man around to receive his corpse, then we had to wait for a little time before the family head of my in-law came out and received the corpse and i said to myself. Didn't they know that my in-law corpse was coming? Or do they want to disgrace him all because he didn't have a male child to welcome him.

So after waiting for some minutes, thank God an elderly man came out and received the corpse, then the undertakers took the corpse to the lying in state room and the coffee was open for his wife and children to see him and some of his relatives.

At this moment, it was something else because everyone was just crying, my in-law would have lived on earth small before leaving, it was barely two months his last daughter was given a counselor position but he died without reaping his fruit of labour.

So the corpse was there till 9:45am before we proceed to the church, my in-law was a Catholic member, so the corpse has to be in church before 10am for the funeral to begin. While they took the corpse to church, i hurriedly took my bathe and get dressed up for the church funeral to give my in-law my last respect, i hurriedly took my bathe, get dressed and i did a little makeup because i was totally warn out so i need to look a little bit okay.

By the time i finish everything it was passed 11am, so i couldn't eat anything again, i went straight to church and i was lucky there was a car that was also going to the church, so i joined his car.

Reaching the church, the crowd was something else, every place was filled, even the inside of the church was filled then i locate a seat and seat. I was first seated outside before i found a space inside the church, then i seat.

The church activities took a long period of time, they did everything they supposed do, a lot of prayers was made and donations took place, prayers was prayed for the family and the church, so while inside the church, i had a call that my goods has arrived and i was no longer myself because i needed to offload them so that rain will not rain on it, so since was not in my base i had to place a call and i ask the person in charge to put the onions in their way house.

So i stayed in the church till 2pm and they the close by passed 2pm and we proceeded to the reception. A tent was set for all the wel wishers, then i meet one of the caterers and i collect a plate of food and eat because i was very hungry.
The hall was well set and it was very beautiful.

At the reception i spent few minutes there because when i check, it was already passed 3pm, and i needed to be in uyo which is my base before 5pm so that i can offload my goods, so luckily for me i saw a vehicle that was going to uyo, i joined him and others and we left.

The joining was just an hour joining because it was a private vehicle, so we landed uyo very early, it was just passed 4pm and then i called my bus driver to come to where my goods were and it took my driver over 30 minutes to come and meet me, at this point i was very tired and i didn't have the stress to start looking for empty vehicle that will help pack my goods, so i didn't have any options than to wait for the driver.

After some minutes, my driver arrived and we packed the onions and i went straight to the market and i distributed them to my customers.

I was able to round up the supply before 6pm and i headed home, reaching my house, there was no key for me to enter my house, before leaving my house to the village for the funeral, my last two kids kids was with the house keys, i drop them with my other two kids that are in the hospital to stay with, so i called them to come back home while i wanted for them in my neighbor's house.

After some hours, they came back home and opened the door and i went in, freshen up and i went straight to bed because i was very tired.

Though I'm grateful because of able to meet up with my customers and i made all the supply before night fall.
