I'll like us to look into this topic, bad parenting and it's effects on children.
Family is said to be the smallest unit of the society. So tell me, what do you think will become of the society when they family is not in order? Both parents of the kids are saddled with the responsibility of instilling good morals and virtues in their children. They are expected to groom them in such a way that they become a valuable asset to their society and nation at large. But tell me, what do you think will become of these children when the parents never take this seriously?
Bad parenting has so many negative impacts of children's general well-being ranging from physical, emotional and psychological well-being.

Let's take a quick glance at some examples of bad parenting:

1. Physical abuse: This is involves physically hitting a child, shaking or to a large extent, burning them. Yes, some go to the extent of burning them. Such an inhumane treatment.
2. Neglect: sometimes we see kids begining to have criminal tendencies at very young age and you'll begin to wonder what went wrong. I'm not justifying their actions, but often times, these are results of parental neglects... Not providing basic needs like food, shelter and clothing will often time push these kids into habits that the society frowns at.
3. Overindulgence: Yes, in as much as the society frowns at physical abuse of children, it still supports correcting the child when he/she is erring. The society still supports spoiling the rod and sparing the child. Over pampering will most likely result in having so many spoiled brats in the society with so much entitlement and lack of self-discipline.
4. Emotional abuse: A child should never be humiliated, belittled of even rejected as this could be very traumatizing for them. Most times, you find kids being withdrawn to themselves and one will often wonder why? Some are a result of emotional abuse.

Effects of bad parenting on Kids

The following are some effects of bad parenting on Kids:

1. Academic struggles: This is very common amongst kids who suffer from emotional abuse. When they don't receive the support or motivation needed, they are most likely to struggle with their academics.
2. Behavioral problems; Very common oth kids who suffer from physical abuse. They tend to be very aggressive, have anxiety problems or fall into depression.
3. Mental issues; Kids behavioral problems can gradually result in mental health issues like trauma, depression or anxiety if proper care and attention is not given to them.
4. Difficulty with relationships: Kids who are withdrawn generally struggle in forming or maintaining a healthy relationship.

Parents and guardians, please ensure that you train up your kids and wards in right and appropriate manner. Have good positive parenting strategies like setting well defined boundaries, practice and have good and active listening, use positive reinforcement and most importantly, show empathy.

With these, we will all build a decent and healthy society.
