Takengon Aceh, the Land Above the Clouds

My post on today's opportunity is about greetings as suggested by the community team, Saturday is about nature, I want to take this opportunity to share experiences during my visit to Takengon City, Aceh.

Takengon is a place in Central Aceh District, Aceh Province. The name Takengon comes from the Aceh language which means bent or bent. The reason is, the trip to the location must pass hilly inclines, mountain inclines, winding and steep roads.

Country Above the Clouds

This place is often a destination for tourists who come. Tourists can enjoy local cuisine, beautiful natural scenery, and cycling. Takengon is a highland area, about 1200 meters above sea level. This makes the air quite cool there. The clouds are clearly visible there, it feels very close as if we are walking on them. Therefore, Takengon is called the land above the clouds.

Takengon also has several tourist attractions. Like Lake Laut Tawar, Gua Putri Pukes and Lake Pantan Terong

Fresh Sea Lake

Fresh Sea Lake is the largest lake in the Province of Nangroe Aceh Darussalam. The tribe who lives here is the Gayo tribe. They have regional languages ​​that are different from other Acehnese languages.

During the trip around the lake, there will be lots of coffee garden views. Coffee thrives and is of good quality. This is because the climate, temperature and the surrounding land are suitable for growing coffee.

Putri Pukes Cave

This cave represents a legend about Putri Pukes, a princess who lives in Tanah Gayo, Aceh. In this cave there is a stone which is believed to be Putri Pukes. He used to turn to stone for not doing what his mother told him to do. The legend there says that sometimes stones cry and the tears that come out turn to stones. The size of the stone that is there can be enlarged because the stone is crying.

This legend is an interesting story that attracts tourists to come to the Putry Pukes Cave because they want to see it in person.

Pantan Terong Hill

From the city of Takengon, the distance to this place is about 7.5 kilometers. Not too far, it only takes 15 minutes. When you go to this place, expect to be careful because of the steep roads. This place is perfect for relaxing and refreshing the mind. Because from this place we can see the beauty of the fresh sea lake.
