My Hobby/ Drawing Pencil sketch (pencil portrait arts) – Part 01

We know that many people stay at home due to the covid-19 outbreak. So many people try to continue their hobbies. Now I’m going to tell you about a very interesting topic. It is about a pencil portrait. At present, it is very famous among youngers because they try to give a portrait pencil art as a gift. Also, it has high commercial value.
First of all, it is interesting to tell how I learned pencil portrait drawing. I had not studied art till the ordinary level. Instead of it, I learned about music. But I hadn't any interest in that. So after the A/L exam, I started to learn about pencil portrait drawing. So I will tell you about the techniques we can use for pencil sketches and then we can try.
Before start drawing, we have to get some types of equipment. Those are,
1.A pencil
2.A eraser
3. Sketch paper
4. Pencil sharpers
5. Charcoal pencils
6. Blending stumps
7. Ruler

Types of Pencils

There are a lot of types of pencils. But we have to use some advanced pencils for drawing. Because it is very important for the quality of our sketch. Mainly there are two types of pencils, B and H series. In those series, there are several different pencils like HB, B,2B-9B, H, 2H-6H, etc. We can use a B series pencil for drawing mainly.

Types of erasers
We can use a normal eraser but we have to use Tombo mono zero erasers to erase small lines. Also, there is an eraser known as a kneaded eraser. It is like clay.

Sketch Papers

We should use sketch paper for the sketching unless we haven’t got a good finish. So there are different Sketch papers with diferent brands in the bookshops. These papers are also have different sizes like A4, A3, etc and also different thicknesses.

Pencil Sharpers

Mainly we should have 2 types of pencil sharpers. Because we can’t use normal pencil sharper to sharpen charcoal pencils. Also, we can use a sharp blade for this.

Charcoal pencils

We can use Charcoal pencils or stumps. There are three types mainly, soft., medium, and hard. The intensity of dark color reduces in order. Also, some sketchers use black pens.

Blending stumps

Those are very important to the blending procedure. There are different types of blending stumps in book shops.

Then we can start our sketch. First, we have to draw a grid on the paper and the same grid on the photo, because we are not familiar and in this way, we can easily draw lines of our sketch. Anyway, there are also sketch toolsets and we can use them.
Unfortunately, I forgot my tool kit at the Hostal place. I will update some pictures of these tools and in the next part, I will write the techniques and how we can use these types of equipment to complete our sketch.
