Story by Akira Kurosawa...

I heard about that fact recently. I had already added it to my watchlist midst the search of decent Hollywood action flicks, but when I heard that there's an engagement with Kurosawa master as well, thought I'd move it up on queue.

Well, stunts on a high speed moving Train is not exactly the news in the town. It's an element used in many action films all around. But still, it hasn't got old in the sense of how engaging and unnerving those sequences are. No? A man on a moving train still holds up.

It's interesting to think how Akira Kurosawa himself would've made this film because this quite feels the good old 80s Hollywood. Maybe he would've eliminated the woman character. Kinda feels like a forced typical Hollywood thing they added, no support to the focal points. It got a fantastic soundtrack as well and the lead performance by Jon Voight is excellent. Storyline is well woven, sort of puts human's good or evil sides into discussion I guess.

Plot: Two escaped prisoners from a Maximum security prison think they're free when they get into a train.. until they find themselves alone in it without a driver.

Summarized all that blah, it's a good flick. Would fit great for a random light watch.
