FAVOURITE CHILDHOOD MOVIE | Steem Sri Lanka: Contest Series - Week 04 | THE KARATE KID

Hope you all are doing great. Glad to join Steem Sri Lanka Contest Series and here's my entry for the contest FAVOURITE CHIDHOOD MOVIE hosted by @praweenw96.

Even I'm not a die heart fan of movies, I loved to watch movies when I was a kid. So I had a handful of favorite movies in my childhood and there was a movie which is my all time favorite. It's name is The Karate Kid. I can remember I watched this movie too many times and still doesn't getting bored with it.

It is released in 2010 as a Harald Zwart's remake of the classic martial arts movie The Karate Kid (1984). The movie is starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan as the main characters of the story. As well as Jaden Smith featured in the film's official theme song, "Never Say Never" performed by Justin Bieber. I just love it!

The film follows a young American boy who is forced to relocate to China with his single mother. The story begins...

Sherry Parker : Dre, you ready?
Dre Parker : Yeah, one second.

12 year old Dre Parker has moved to China due to the latest career decision by his mom. There he had to learn a new language, adapt to a new school and cope with a radically different culture. Then he befriends a fellow classmate, Mei Ying, a pretty young violinist. I feel Dre flirted with his classmate, but it's brought him faced with many challenges he never imagined.

Cheng, the enemy of the school, who started to bully and attack Dre mercilessly at every possible turn. Dre knew just a little karate but Cheng put "the karate kid" on the floor with ease with his friends. Dre had nowhere to turn in this strange land. However, things began to change after he met Mr. Han, the maintenance man of Dre's apartment.

Even he was a maintenance man, he was secretly a Kung Fu master. One day Mr. Han fend off Cheng and his friends when they were attacking Dre. Dre knew that facing down the bullies will be the battle of his life. Dre is befriended by Mr. Han and he slowly taught Dre how to defend himself. Mr. Han signed Dre up to fight in the Kung Fu tournament in return for the bullies laying off of Dre.

Dre realized Mr. Han is much more than a maintenance man, when he is revealed as master of Kung Fu. Dre learnt that Kung Fu is about self defense and peace instead of violence and bloodshed.

When I was watching this movie for the first time I was tearing and felt sad towards Dre. I also loved Dre's nice hair as the Mei Ying. Actually this is really amazing movie and flow down while giving us many moral lessons. I can remember once Mr. Han says as follows.

WHEN LIFE KNOCKS YOU DOWN, WE HAVE TO CHOOSE TO GET BACK UP

This is the moral theme highlighted in the film and it's very true to life. The movie spells this one out very well and it's their lesson to tell. Because with the moving to China, Dre missed his previous life in the America and he felt down emotionally. But met a teacher he never expected, who supported Dre to get back up. He taught Dre how to deal with bullying and many life lessons too. Like that in our lives, we have many ups and downs but we have to face those obstacles and defeat them. That's the life!
