"Prove yourself as the best artist for the week".

Greetings friends. How are you today? I believe you are all fine as I am. I appreciate @dequeen for organising and sustaining this contest titled "Prove yourself as the best artist for the week". Today, 17th April 2025, marked my one year since joining the Steemit community. I remain grateful to every Steemian for the support I have received so far. As part of my celebration today, I have decided to draw my own portrait which I believe you all will like it

What I draw in this week's contest is my own image. I picked the photograph from my photo gallery and drew it using a pencil.

Materials For Drawing

• Plain A4 paper
• Pencils
• Eraser
• Cutter
• Brush

Step 1
I drew the outline of the face. I started with the top level of the hair, the ears, the cheek and the lower jaw. I also sketched the edge of the hair on the forehead.

Step 2
I sketched the two eyes and the eyelid. I also draw the nose and the mouth.

Step 3
I drew the neck, the suit and the inner shirt.

Step 4
I drew the ears and the eyebrows. I also shaded the hair on the head and the eyelids.

Step 5
Here, I started shading the drawing. I shaded the four heads: the cheek, the nose and the jaw.

Step 6
I drew the teeth and shaded the mouth and the lips. I also shaded the beard and the neck.

Step 7
I shaded the two ears and the inner shirt.

Step 8
I shaded the suit lightly using a 6B pencil. I also drew the collar of the suit and the stitches on it.

✅ How long did it take to complete your drawing, and how do you feel about it?
This drawing took me four (4) good hours to have it completed. I was happy when I was done with the drawing. This is because the drawing is more like the original.

The inspiration to make this portrait drawing of myself comes from within me. I just felt today that I needed to draw my own image.
