PARENTS SCHOOL: The role of grandparents in raising children.

in Steem Education4 years ago

Hello, welcome to my blog "I love to educate", it was created for educational purposes. Provide support to teachers, students and parents in the teaching-learning process, facilitating the completion of school activities.

The main role in parenting, of course, is given to parents. But most children also have grandparents who often want to communicate with their grandchildren and instill in them their views on life.

The appearance of a baby in the family can unite the family, establish more reliable and warm relationships between adults and, on the contrary, can become a source of constant conflict and debate.

Positive influence

  • Grandparents voluntarily stay with their grandchildren when parents are at work, at the movies, or at a party.

  • After bringing the firstborn home, the newly made mom and dad are afraid of doing something wrong. Experienced grandmothers will help, advise, teach and hold a master class on how to bathe a newborn. His movements are safe and at the same time loving.

  • Skillful grandparents will have time and patience for classes that parents fail: teaching a granddaughter to knit and cook cakes, and a grandson to plan and make a birdhouse.

  • Children love it when grandma or grandpa read fairy tales to them. In early childhood, it is easier to instill a love of reading that will last a lifetime.

  • The previous generation has rich life experiences, which they share with enthusiasm with the children: the stories of their childhood will unite and expand the child's horizons.

  • By communicating with grandparents, children learn to respect the elderly, to help them. They must carry this valuable experience throughout their lives.

Negative influence

  • Often, grandmothers who bring their grandchildren over the weekend tend to throw away all the accumulated love. Unfortunately, this is often expressed in permissiveness: they allow you to watch cartoons uncontrollably, feed them candy, buy whatever you want, allow yourself to break the regime.

  • Comparing the grandmother, who allows everything, and the strict demanding mother, the child begins to "inflate rights": demand what was allowed before. This situation leads to conflicts between adults.

  • Lying to parents becomes the norm for the child. The grandson can convince the grandmother not to tell his mother about the forbidden sweets he ate in full.

  • For grandparents, their grandson is the best. He is admired and praises each of his acts. Such an attitude can form an exaggerated self-esteem and belief in the superiority of a grandchild.

  • The grandmother, who has not fully realized her maternal instinct, is trying to distance the mother from the child, fully assume the education of the grandson and take care of the baby, and replace his mother.

It is important that all three parties are happy with the relationship: grandparents, young parents, and children. To do this, you must be able to discuss controversial issues, accept another's opinion, think about the child's good.

Tips for parents

  • Remember the most important thing: your parents love your children! Do not offend them with reproaches and accusations of inappropriate treatment of the child.

  • Thank your parents more for the help they give you. Where else can you find a loving, caring, hassle-free and free babysitter?

  • If you need to adjust your way of education, please do it gently and delicately. Explain the reason for your concern. Ask, not indicate.

  • Talk about the principles of education to lead without a child. You don't need to know about your disagreements. The child is concerned when he observes the conflicts of his loved ones.

  • You for the children must remain the main authority, your word must be decisive for the child. Behave so that the child wants to imitate you.

  • Always talk to your child about grandparents only with respect: Give them an example of the right attitude toward older people.

  • Yield to unprincipled matters. Peace and harmony in the family is more important.

Parents and only parents are responsible for the life, health and future of the child, so they must make responsible decisions without experiencing pressure from others.
