Hello to everyone, hope e had a wonderful weekend. I welcome you to another week here in CampusConnect. Today will be educating us on a wonderful topic which I title "Why we need to encourage afforestation and discourage deforestation". but before then I will be explaining the various meaning of the word Afforestation and deforestation and I believe after reading through, you will see the need of planting trees rather than uproot them. WHAT IS AFFORESTATION?

Afforestation is seen as the process of creating new forest as well as reforestation of an area that has been deforested long ago.

It can also be seen as the cultivating of forests and trees in an environment that is previously unproductive. afforestation has an environmental benefit because it is the process of establishing barren areas where there has been no previous tree cover, by planting trees and making up a forest through that means.

Afforestation is achieved and neatly done by the planting of trees and seedlings, either artificially or naturally.

• Without afforestation, the world would have become something else by now, because afforestation reduces the atmospheric carbon footprint or carbon dioxide and that has made the earth a better place.

• Afforestation also increases the active carbon sinks that store and absorb carbon from the earth

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF AFFORESTATION

Below are a few advantages and disadvantages of afforestation, there are numerous examples but I will be highlighting a few of them as seen below.

ADVANTAGES	DISADVANTAGES
- Afforestation serves as flood control and provides a good air for breathing	- It is not properly managed
- Availability of forest products at all times	It may lead to the reduction of local biodiversity.
- It also stabilizes the climate and erosion is prevented.	-It reduces the flow of the stream and revenue is lost from agriculture

WHAT IS DEFORESTATION?

The term deforestation simply means the act of bringing down, destroying forests and trees for the use of mankind. It is also the thinning, clearing of trees by man. and this act has been a bad habit which has resulted in a great issue of mankind, especially in the use of land globally. the estimates of this deforestation traditionally are on the account of the area of forest that has been cleared for the use of mankind and this includes the removal of trees for the production of wood and croplands and also grazing lands.

It is also seen as the process of clearing, destroying a forest, and then replacing it with a different thing entirely, enhance by an agricultural system.

• Deforestation acts eliminate vegetation that is so vital for the removal of carbon dioxide from the air.

• Deforestation also produces what we called the greenhouse gas emission,

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF DEFORESTATION

Below are also a few advantages and disadvantages of deforestation, in as much as it is very bad it also has some advantages as seen below.

ADVANTAGES	DISADVANTAGES
- It helps in generating revenue from agriculture.	- The habitat of animals and birds is destroyed by deforestation.
- Spacious usable land is created for human expansion.	- The greenhouse gases build-up is activated by deforestation.
- Materials are been produced e.g cotton.	- Discoveries of new herbal medicines are affected.

We must encourage afforestation main looking at the explanations above has given us a benefit in no doubt that afforestation brings more good than harm while deforestation cause more harm than good. looking at the problems of the world we all can agree that greenhouse gas emission has caused more harm to mankind. so we should encourage afforestation and discourage deforestation.

CONCLUSION

The forest could also be a frugal way of protecting the ozone pollution, avoiding soil erosion, and a lot more. so let us all join hands and protect the trees in the forest by not chopping the trees off in other to protect our environment. thank you for reading.
