Steemit Engagement Challenge | My Review Of a Provision Store @weasell

Hello good people of steemit, welcome to my 5th steemit engagement challenge and for today challenge I will be reviewing a business in my city. In my opinion the engagement challenge is very good idea. I have learn from so many post and I try to leave an honest comment to appreciate the author’s effort. So with that been said let get to the business of the day.

When been asked to review a business in my city, I intent to showcase a small business because I believe they are as important to us customer as the manufacture who produce the goods. Retailers brings the product closer to the customer making it accessible to all and that is the main reason manufacturers produces good anyway to satisfy the consumer. The business I will be reviewing on this post in provision store located not too far from where I live.

About the Business.

The business focus more on selling soft drinks and other day to day items such as milk, detergent, soap and bread. These are items we need every day and without small businesses like this, these items may proof hard to get and that will obviously make life difficult. We can see variety of drinks both soft drink and table waters. We can also see a lot of bagged water in sachet nylon they are called ‘pure water’ although, it not as refine as the table water but it way cheaper so almost everyone can afford it.

Brief Description of the Business and where it’s Located.

The business has been in existence for about 10 years now I know because it belong to my step mum and I have spent some time helping her out especially on Friday after Jumah praying, been located just opposite to a central mosque brings a lot of customer so immediately after I finish my prayers I quickly rush to the shop to help her out which many customer already inpatient to buy what they need and leave.

The first thing at the front of the shop is a show glass fill with biscuit to attract kids and when you come closer you notice breads on the fridge, this is done to convince customer who came to buy soft drink that he need to also buy bread because combining those two is electrifying. These strategy works because second to soft drink is biscuit and bread in team of most sale.

I use Google map to share the location of the business and we can see it right opposite Yankarfe Mosque separated by Zaria-Kano express road so she also get a lot of travellers as customer. Also the location is surrounded by mechanic workshop so she provides most of their lunch and these makes it a perfect location.

My Experience with the Business.

As said earlier I always help out mostly on Fridays. The business isn’t just about sitting around and attending to customer we need to reload the fridge whenever drinks are down and that is sometime risky because sometime pressure usually build while transporting these drinks so any slight mistake they usually explode can you imagine a glass bottle exploding? She has sustain many injury due to this but what we have notice is that this situation usually occur during the hot season. The heat usually increase the pressure in the bottle so when it the hot season she is usually extra careful.

Another risk involve is theft, when attending to a customer it is advisable to finish with that particular customer before moving to the next. I have encounter a scenario where a customer is arguing that he gave me specific amount which he didn’t because they were a lot of customer. So we need to be shape and our eyes open. Or a customer can distract you so his partner can go in and steal something.

Prices of Some Products in the Store.

I will equivalent the price to steem, at 1 steem to 250NGN (Nigerian Naira) and hopefully our price will attract steemit users within our environment. They is this item I haven’t mansion it locally made from groundnut it called Kulikuli and it usually taken with cassava flakes and it also one of the top sold items in the shop. Final Thoughts and Recommendations about the business.

It is a very good business with reasonable profit and her presence is now very important that most people within the environment rely on her for mostly lunch and other day to day commodities. I have always recommend to her to increase her product varieties, they are many product advertisement we see when I ask her about it she will said they will not buy it so I always questioned her that, how did she know this when she has not even purchase it for once. This is a weakness where a competition can gain ground really quickly.

Conclusion

Entrepreneurship isn’t all about spending millions on a business before you can call yourself an entrepreneur. You can start very little and grow big within few years all it takes it focus and dedication. I remember she started small and how the business has grown to a big one.
