AkwaIbom State has bus service run by private individual, the service covers the major roads like Oron Road, Nanniba Road, Aka road, Abak road, Ikot-ekpene road and Willongton Bassey way. Commuters are expected to stop at some point along this major roads then use a tricycle or a motorcycle to complete the journey to their destination.
This forms of public transportation do not make use of the various road network in and around the city of Uyo. They are found congested along the routes they ply and will only make a diversion to avoid a bottle neck.
This has made transportation difficult but for some years it has been the norm that you will have to get a bus that goes to plaza then pick another bus from there to your destination even when there are roads that would take you to your destination in less time.

The Muzaride Service

Muzaride came in as a taxi service, though it's still gaining popularity amongs the people. It is rapidly gaining solid grounds as it employs available technology to it's advantage.

Clients can book a ride through the WhatsApp app or may download the Muzaride app through play store, which could be used to order for drop. The control center will use Google maps to identify the closest Muzaride driver who has indicated readiness to take up a client. This makes it possible for the client to be picked up in the shortest possible time which is often less than five minutes if you call for the ride while in the city of Uyo.

The proceeds from the ride is shared between the driver and Muzaride with the driver going with the better percentage as he bears the cost for fueling and maintenance. Every payment made directly to the company will be sent to the driver at the end of the week.

Clients are treated with class, and it's easy to get confused for a very rich fellow with a driver because the vehicles are not branded. This has resulted in many client appreciating the Muzaride Service as you can ask for the driver to wait for you and drive you back.

Competition

Muzaride's only competitor is a rival taxi company called Bolt. Who offer similar services to clients but came into the market after Muzaride had made a name in the area.
