New Holland in the Morning

The weather forecast for that day promised such weather that I hurried to go out for a walk as early as possible, at sunrise. I wrote about the sunrise because I wanted to brag:) About the sunrise is pure truth, but it is worth considering that the sun rose around half past nine in the morning. However, in our city, this time is considered very early, gardens and parks are still pretty deserted at this hour.

First I want to tell you about the weather forecast and explain why I was in such a hurry. The beginning of the year 2021 (how I like to write this number instead of 2020!) was frosty and snowy, very cold and very beautiful. But this weather didn't last very long. The weather forecast for that day was: at five o'clock in the morning -8°C, at ten o'clock in the morning +2°C. I imagined what a beautiful fluffy snow would turn into at ten o'clock in the morning and decided to go for a walk as early as possible.

It did get noticeably warmer in the morning, but I think the slight minus was still there. Little tractors drove around the streets and embankments and cleaned up the snow that had fallen the night before.

I reached New Holland Island. At this early hour there were very few visitors, and I took a few pictures with almost no people. New Year's decorations of the island are based on Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Nutcracker". It is a traditional winter fairy tale, the ballet is only performed in winter.

The main Christmas tree on New Holland Island stands in the center of the circular courtyard of a building with the not-so-romantic name "Bottle." But this Christmas tree is artificial, it's too flat, too symmetrical. I like the live Christmas tree decorated with red balls much better.

I really liked this alley. Seeing the bright reds and greens instead of the black branches against the white snow was unexpected and pleasant. City birds have a lot of other food since they haven't pecked those berries yet.
