According to oxford dictionary, a butterfluly is a flying insect with a long thin body and four large, usually brightly colored, wings

According to google there are about 17,500 species of butterflies in the world.

Life cycle of a butterfly
Butterflies have complete metamorphosis. The young called larva is different from the adult. Stages: The stages of butterfly starts from egg to larva then from larva to pupa and from pupa to adult.

Some facts about butterflies:

• Transparent wings
• Drink from mud puddles
• Can't fly if they're cold
• Taste with their feet

Types of butterfly
There are many types of butterflies but I will just mention the few once I know.

1. Red admiral
2. Monarch
3. Blue morpho
4. Brush_footed
5. American snout.
