Macro: Trichonephila clavipes "Banana Spider"

Trichonephila clavipes - source from WikipediA is the scientific name for the spider I'm sharing today; this insect-eating animal is known as the banana spider because of its brightly colored body, which resembles a banana. I photographed him as he sat on the net, having just finished eating the insects caught in the net.

This Banana Spider has a body size of 3 to 5 cm depending on its age. I saw this spider web made between the starfruit tree trunks with several layers as a trap for insects that pass until they are finally caught and eaten by the spiders. Often insects that pass through the spider's base will be immediately overwhelmed and difficult to escape because the web has a sticky texture if it hits other animals.
