Writing and Reviews Contest: A Review of Taare Zameen Par

Introduction

Many of you may know this movie by the name "Like Stars on Earth", what i used in my title is actually its hindi version and for those who may not be fans of Hindi movies i could vehemently say that this movie has the potential to change your mind about that.

I am watched my first Hindi Movie (Mere Yadki Karoge) when i was about 12 years old and since then i have always loved hindi movies. Mostly because their storylines are great and they produce the best of love stories once could ever get. Like stars on earth is however not your typical hindi movie, because whiles there is spice of love in the plot it has nothing to do with romance rather mental health, patience and nurturing of talent and creativity.

The Review

Taare Zameen Par was written by Amole Gupte and produced and directed by Aamir Khan who also featured in the movie as an art teacher. The movie centers around Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary), a dyslexic (a learning disability with difficulty reading) and a dyscalculic (math learning disability) child who has troubles with academics. His parents send him to the boarding house with hopes of him getting better, in school he makes friends with a brilliant physically disabled boy and however it does not stop him from continuously failing to read and process class work.

This causes him to fall into depression as he gets irritated, sad, miss his parents, feel out of place in the world and even develop some suicidal ideas. Then things start to get better when he meets his new art teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aarmir Khan). Fortunately for him his new art teacher had experience with children of his calibre as he had knowledge on children with developmental disability.

In the course of studies Ishaan comes to learn more about his teacher and how he himself was a victim of dsylexia as a child and how some great personalities, the likes of Albert Einstein also had similar issues as as children. Ram becomes Ishaan tutor and through the application of different learning methods gradually get better with reading.

Ram discovers that Ishaan is a talented artist when he comes across his previous artwork and towards the end of the movie Ram gets the school authorities to hold and Art contest for everyone staff and student alike to participate. Ishaan makes a wonderful artwork and is crown winner of the competition. His parents come to feel sorry for not been patient with their son and express their gratitude to the Art teacher when they came at the end of the school year to get their ward.

Conclusion

The story touches on important factors such as mental health and disability and leaves watchers with moral lessons such as patience is virtue and using the right approach yield results. I love this movie so much that i would rate it a 10/10 because to me it is flawless, you are however welcome to debate this in the comment section. Thank you so much for reading and have nice time.
