Here´s my participation to the Top 10 Favorite movies. I like watching television and this is just a tiny sample of my movie preferences.

The Bicentennial Man (1998)
This 1998 Asimov´s adaptation of the story of the same title makes me cry every time I watch. The sacrifice Andrew has to make to be accepted as a member of our specie goes totally against the ancient human desire for immortality.
Anastasia (1997)
I had an obsession with this story when I was a kid. I watched the film over and over again until I learn the lyrics of the soundtrack and my family got sick of it. As many people, I fantasized with the idea that she had survived and preferred to live in the shadows to escape from further attempts against her life.
Atlantis: the lost empire (2001)
The main character was different from the male characters I grew up with: he was not physically strong, had a nervous and shy personality and still, was very important to achieve the goal to find the mythical city. The was a library mouse and had no idea of the true motivations of the researching company.
The Lady in the Van(2015)
This is the latest film in the list. The story of Alan Bennet´s and his unwanted “lodger”, an old woman who lives in a van in his garage and spends twelve years in this situation daring his patience and, sometimes, interfering with his daily activities, can make the viewer think of all the unexpected events that may lead you to do things you didn´t want to do.
Valkyrie (2008)
I started to like films about the Second War and Valkyrie was my first introduction to this kind of stories. After further researching, saw the film other three times until I could “enjoy” the whole matter.
Memoirs of a Geisha (2005)
I felt in love with Sayuri and Mameha since the very first time. It took me a bit with Hatsumomo but she conquered me finally. Those three goddesses have to face the fact of living in a patriarchal system that sees them only as entertainers, as slaves and doesn´t let them make a life of their own. Mameha´s resignation is a high contrast with Sayuri´s persistent desire to become the president´s lover –kept in secret for too long, for her own sake- and, of course, Hatsumomo´s desperate attempts to be sincerely loved by a man getting the opposite results.
Sucker Punch (2011)
The main characters of this story are sent to a mental institution because society considers them a failure. Since the beginning of Psychiatry, the sane and insane people were locked in places like this because nobody wanted to look after them or, in worst cases, people in power wanted them to disappear.
Baby Doll suffers depression and is abused by her stepfather. After she arrives Lennox Asylum, starts to daydream to hold on until she could set free her friends.
Inception (2010)
Somehow similar to Sucker Punch, Nolan´s film is visually attractive and the layers of really make you doubt who´s mind are the characters at the moment. It´s hard to tell what´s the actual ending of it.
Rita Hayworth or The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Based on a Stephen King´s and Leon Tolstoi´s tale it shows that the justice system has flaws, never mind the period never mind the country.
Andrew Dufresne incarceration for the murder of his wife and her lover due to the suspicion that is always the husband/wife, leads him through the personal hell of the other inmates. He befriends them, knows their stories and they support each other against the guards.
The da Vinci Code (2006)
Dan Brown´s 2003 book adaptation is as better as its literary version. The word games, the historical references and the soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer make watch the Ron Howard´s work every time in zapping and meet it by accident.
