Welcome to yet another week of the engagement challenge. This week, the hot news community has come up with a very interesting topic that involves reporting the happening in our immediate environment. Today the diary is centred on not just our activities but also the activities around us all. I do hope we find this diary report of mine useful.

This week, the hot news community has come up with a very interesting topic that involves reporting the happening in our immediate environment. Today the diary is centred on not just our activities but also the activities around us all. I do hope we find this diary report of mine useful.
Due to the nature of this week's diary, I went out to see for myself the happenings in my area. This time I decided to go to the market since it has been a while since I visited the market myself. On reaching the market, I discovered a whole lot of things had completely changed.
I have been hearing that there is new construction going on in the market and that has led to the displacement of many traders since they are been chased out of their previous position whenre they normally sell their goods.
Ongoing construction of the market
This demolition has made the market very scanty because you hardly see those who normally sell goods in their respective position any longer. According to one of the traders I had an interaction with, she said that they are asked to move to the new market which was located outside the town.
A lot of people including myself don't like going to that market because of the distance. People are more familiar with this market and telling them to leave this place for another place is like asking them to start from the very beginning.
Another interview with one of the persons doing the construction says that the construction of the new market structure won't allow people to sell how they all must acquire a shop and no one will be allowed to sell outside as they are doing currently hence the type of market they want to build now is a standard form of market that only those who rent a shop will be given access to stay.
A little tour around the market
I went around the market to purchase a few things and I discovered how scanty the market was. A lot of people selling are currently not available any longer because according to sources, most times when they come out to sell they are been driven away by soldiers and policemen.
My report today is centred on the market situation in my area due to the construction of a new market structure, a lot of traders have been displaced and sent out of the market. Traders are frustrated at the moment because they are been chased and beaten like animals by soldiers and policemen. Due to this fear, most of them don't come out any longer others have gone to the new market which is outside the town. In all, the situation currently is not a pleasant one at all. Demolition and construction of the new market site will help bring faster development to the community because hundreds of people from different places will come over to the market to trade. But on the other hand, goods and services in the market would be costly because of the taxes they would be paying to the government and other agencies. This is part of the problem the people in my town are facing. (Abakaliki International Market precisely).
Does it mean the market women and men were not informed ahead of the demolition before they were chased out? I am sure the construction is for the benefit of everyone. Owning a shop in a market will reduce a lot of stress, like caring for your goods from one place to another and so on.

Demolition of this market and constructing a new site is a great news, and the standard they want to operate the market will be amazing too since this will help eradicate unnecessary crowding and hold up in the market. Atleast serious business people will rent the shop and be serious to meet their rent. Also it will help buyers to easily locate a particular goods since it will be divided into different categories depending on the type of goods.
