Introduction

Hello fellow steemians on @steem-travelers, it's a pleasure participating in this amazing contest to showcase the rich culture of my people with 10% to @hive-111293

The Eggons are indigene of Nasarawa Eggon LGA of Nasarawa State in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria.
We have different ways and programmes to showcase our culture which brings about the knowledge to the younger generation and Eggon Carnival is one of them.
Eggon Carnival is a yearly programme slated for 26th to 30th December every year at our ancestral city, Nasarawa Eggon.

Cultural Display

There are several display to portray our culture such as traditional dishes called engbom and ebepken.

Cultural artifact such as beads, clay pots, bow, arrow, shield, thick wrappers, baskets and knifes are also displayed through story telling about the past warriors and great hunters.

Cultural dances from various groups and age grades are also part of the events.
One of the most interesting aspect is everyone is welcome to Eggon Carnival both the locals and guests as there is always a translator for non speaking Eggons at the programme.

Beauty pageant is also part of the programme where the most cultured, intelligent and smart lady and a man are crowned Adzuyi (miss Eggon) and Azba (mr Eggon) respectively.

There is also masquerades display which were believed to be the representatives of our ancestors or the gods and also serve as protectors of my people.

This is one of the events you wouldn't want to miss out once you attend and will be hoping to attend the following year.

A maiden contesting for Adzuyi

This is one of the events that brings everyone son and daughter in the diaspora as it's always takes place during the holiday season.
