Behind this piece of art stands the Bulgarian artist Bozko. If you're wondering what it depicts, I'll tell you right away – it's Saint George and the dragon. According to Bozko, Saint George is usually portrayed as young and facing us. Here, he's depicted as older with his back turned to us. By the canonical standards, the dragon should be at his feet, but here, it's above him. Saint George and the dragon represent one of the most significant battles in Christian iconography. Saint George has been slaying the dragon for nearly 2000 years now. To understand just how long this epic battle has been going on, perhaps we should see Saint George as an elder. Bulgaria is home to talented street artists, and Bozko is certainly one of them. 💕
