Deutsch im Anschluß...

21st June 2019, around 6 pm...

Those were the days: the days without Corona and without the Steem, at least for me ;-)) Both happened to me the following year. Not Corona in the sense of a terrible illness, but more like terrible measures that took away my ability to work regularly for many months and thus gave me a lot of free hours. One thing sometimes leads to another: useless time and frustration were somewhat eased by an invitation to the Steem from a Facebook group and I took a liking to what the platform offered me at this point. And hey - I'm still here ;-))

However, there was no talk of that in the summer of 2019 - see above. On the contrary. On this day, on the occasion of the Fête de la Musique, we made our way to a pub here in the neighbourhood, where a musician friend was playing with parts of his band. I don't need to explain the event, I suppose; after all, it takes place worldwide in probably over 540 participating cities!

We arrived at the planned venue, sat down comfortably with an aromatic cold drink (I don't really remember, but on such occasions we like to choose gin-tonic ;-)) and quickly realised that one table away another acquaintance of ours was already sitting and busy with himself and his tablet. We made all sorts of gestures and waved and coughed, but didn't find his attention. It was fun for us to secretly photograph him absorbed like that and send the snapshot to his wife at home, gossiping with her about his inattention. Unfortunately, we didn't notice that he had taken a picture of US in the meantime ;-))

So you can see me with @ty-ty. Who, of course, had no idea that he would become a Steemian one day... There was a lot of good music for us, street tango and a pictorial souvenir on which we look really good, I think ;-)) Serious and earnest, as we are known. Okay, those who know us really well, know that we can also be quite different sometimes ;-))

Two summers later, after a long period of inactivity and with a lot of pent-up anger in my stomach, I took my first steps on the Steem and tried out all sorts of things. I told @ty-ty about what I find and experience here. He was as taken with the possibility of writing and interacting as I was. Only a few weeks later, I was able to convince him to create an account himself and join in fully.

While I was always interested in getting in touch, building up reach and covering as many topics as possible, @ty-ty did exactly one thing : write what came to his mind and what needed to go out, then in a condensed form. So he has largely remained true to his way of expressing himself, while I had initially adapted a little to the medium that was unfamiliar to me. This even went so far that I almost developed a compulsion to be present regularly and to post constantly. I learnt from @ty-ty, or rather I got a mirror image of him, that it doesn't have to be such a pressure. That content is better when it is written out of an inner impulse rather than a perceived obligation. And that html codes can help when mark down style is not enough ;-))

We are both active on the Steem to this day, but each in our own way. I am, admittedly, more of a community person. @ty-ty is more the lone author-wolf, roaming his turf and, well, doing his thing. Independent of comments, votes or other input.

Just as we are a couple in real life who don't usually give each other presents, we will continue to travel individually here on the Steem, more or less intensively, more or less involved. Always with an eye on the big picture and in any case without losing sight of our everyday lives. Because we are a gift to each other ;-))

21 Juni 2019, gegen 18 Uhr…

Das waren noch Zeiten: nämlich welche ganz ohne Corona und ohne den Steem, zumindest für mich ;-)) Beides ereilte mich dann im Folgejahr. Also Corona nicht im Sinne einer fürchterlichen Krankheit, sondern mehr so durch fürchterliche Maßnahmen, die mir viele Monate die Möglichkeit nahmen, regulär zu arbeiten und mir dadurch nicht zuletzt eine Menge freie Stunden verschafften. Das Eine führt manchmal zum Anderen: unnütze Zeit und Frust wurden durch eine Einladung auf den Steem aus einer Facebook-Gruppe heraus etwas aufgelockert und ich fand Gefallen an dem, was die Plattform mir an dieser Stelle bot. Und he – ich bin immer noch hier ;-))

Davon war jedoch im Sommer 2019 – siehe oben – noch keine Rede. Im Gegenteil. An diesem Tag, anläßlich der Fête de la Musique, machten wir uns auf den Weg zu einem Lokal hier im Kiez, wo ein befreundeter Musiker mit Teilen seiner Band aufspielte. Ich brauche das Event nicht zu erklären, nehme ich an; immerhin findet es weltweit statt in wohl über 540 teilnehmenden Städten!

Wir kamen an am geplanten Ort, setzten uns gemütlich nieder bei einem aromatischen Kaltgetränk (ich erinnere mich nicht wirklich, aber bei solchen Gelegenheiten wählen wir gerne Gin-Tonic ;-)) und stellte schnell fest, daß einen Tisch weiter bereits ein anderer Bekannter von uns saß und mit sich und seinem Tablet beschäftigt war. Wir machten alle möglichen Gebärden und winkten und hüstelten, fanden aber nicht seine Beachtung. Es war ein Spaß für uns, ihn heimlich so versunken zu fotografieren und den Schnappschuß seiner Frau zu Hause zu schicken, und mit ihr über seine Unaufmerksamkeit zu lästern. Leider entging uns dabei, daß er seinerseits derweil UNS fotografiert hatte ;-))

Hier könnt Ihr mich also mit @ty-ty sehen. Der an diesem Tag natürlich auch noch keinen Plan hatte, daß er einmal ein Steemianer werden würde… Es gab jede Menge guter Musik für uns, Straßentango und eine bildliche Erinnerung, auf der wir echt gut aussehen, wie ich finde ;-)) Seriös und ernsthaft, wie man uns nun einmal kennt. Okay, wer uns wirklich gut kennt, weiß, daß wir manchmal auch ganz anders können ;-))

Zwei Sommer später, nach langer Untätigkeit und mit ziemlicher angestauter Wut im Bauch, machte ich jedenfalls meine ersten Schritte auf dem Steem und probierte alles mögliche aus. Ich habe @ty-ty davon berichtet, was ich so vorfinde und erlebe hier. Von der Möglichkeit, zu schreiben und zu interagieren, war er ebenso angetan wie ich. Nur wenige Wochen danach konnte ich ihn dafür begeistern, selber einen Account anzulegen und voll einzusteigen.

Während ich immer interessiert daran war, in Kontakt zu kommen, Reichweite aufzubauen und möglichst viele Themen abzudecken, tat @ty-ty genau eins : schreiben, was ihm in den Sinn kam und was, dann in komprimierter Form, hinaus mußte. Damit ist er seiner Art, sich auszudrücken, weitgehend treu geblieben, während ich mich zunächst ein wenig angepaßt hatte auf dem für mich ungewohnten Medium. Das ging sogar so weit, daß ich fast einen Zwang entwickelte, regelmäßig präsent zu sein und konstant zu posten. Von @ty-ty habe ich gelernt bzw. bekam ich gespiegelt, daß es gar nicht sein muß, sich so einen Druck aufzuerlegen. Daß Inhalte besser sind, wenn sie aus einem inneren Impuls heraus verfaßt werden statt aus einer gefühlten Verpflichtung. Und daß html-Codes weiterhelfen können, wenn Mark Down Style nicht ausreicht ;-))

Wir sind bis heute beide aktiv auf dem Steem, allerdings jeder auf seine Art. Ich bin, zugegeben mehr der Community-Mensch. @ty-ty ist eher der einsame Autoren-Wolf, der durch seine Reviere streift und, na ja, sein Ding macht. Unabhängig von Kommentaren, Votes oder anderem Input.

So, wie wir im richtigen Leben ein Paar sind, das sich normalerweise keine Geschenke macht, werden wir auch hier auf dem Steem weiter individuell unterwegs sein, mehr oder weniger intensiv, mehr oder weniger eingebunden. Immer mit dem Blick auf’s Ganze und auf jeden Fall, ohne unseren Alltag aus den Augen zu verlieren. Ein Geschenk sind wir uns nämlich gegenseitig ;-))
