Something happened with my neighbours child and he was like, I want to be popular.

One girl learned that my former boss in the office helps girls to become a celebrity, she was like, 'i can do anything that your boss wants me to do in order to be a celebrity, I just want to be a popular girl's.

So many persons desire to be well known and they try their best to be known. They work for it while some make it to the top, others can't due to one reason or the other. But what does it mean to be popular and does it matter the route one takes to achieve popularity? Well, using this week's contest tips, will like to explore the topic. Please follow along let's see.

Do you want to become popular or not? Justify your answer

Being popular may just be likened to being famous.

I do not want to become popular but will like to earn popularity. Seeking popularity is like seeking the attention of others. For that person's happiness will be a function of fame and being known. Although popularity has categories and can be different in various places. Some are modest while others are not.

	I want to be myself

Popularity comes with a lot of anxieties. Seeking popularity is like allowing others to control you. Determine what kind of clothing you wear, food, class, behaviour, attitude, etc. the crowd is in total control of you and not you yourself.

These will add more stress to you since you strive to meet up with their demands which ordinarily we would not like. Our desire for acceptance will make us to change our personality which identifies a person for the worse.

All that I need is to live a cool, quiet and respectable life. That way of life will naturally draw people of like minds to become my friends, without seeking to please anyone unnecessarily. Yes, being popular in a modest way without struggling for it can be earned. It might be as a result of hardwork or by merits. This is the type I like. One that doesn't expose me unnecessarily.

It really does matter. Unfortunately, our environment does not care about what you do to make yourself popular provided that the objective is achieved.

Most at times, people cherish and practice the wrong values just to attract followers attention to become popular.

This is evident in the various social media platforms where people earn money from their skits and short videos. Most of the short videos are debasing and lacks moral justification. Unfortunately that is what they love to see.

So it does matter what one does to become popular.

In your opinion, which qualities make a person popular?

There are positive traits which can make a person popular without doing the wrong thing. They are listed and explained below

Genuine kindness.

Genuine kindness is essential in attracting people to yourself. You do not use people as a ladder to your business or social success, rather they discern the genuineness of your kind behaviour to them. These set of people are kind to everyone irrespective of their social or financial status.

So they genuinely care for others and ensure they are happy whenever they are with them, doing so without asking for anything in return.

Friendly person

Another quality is that the person will be friendly, have the ability to keep and maintain friendships, reach out to them and make plans towards having good times with them all.

Confidence

This is another great quality for a person seeking to be popular. Their level of confidence radiates whenever they are present. They are courageous and poised. Even when they make mistakes, they accept it and move on with their lives. They are not overly critical of other people and do not judge them harshly.

Tolerance and a Pleasant Attitude

Popular people are a joy to be with. They are tolerant, playful and pleasant. They look for a way to reduce peoples stress, help them out and assist in finding the solutions to their problems.

This will inturn help them to maintain a positive attitude when facing distressing circumstances.

Tell the Truth.

A great quality for a popular person is the ability to say the truth at all times. Saying things the way they are builds trust between you and other people.

Conversational.

A popular person should have good conversational skills. There is never a dull moment with such person. He is ready to listen and willing to converse freely.

The pros and cons of becoming popular.

^ It is usually very difficult to identify real and true friends

^ The person will find it difficult to have his privacy.

^ The person will be subject to much judgements and criticisms.

^ A popular person is subject to identity crisis. This is because, he has a public image to protect. He is one person outside and another inside.

^ Being popular can also be difficult to handle. It can lead to exposure to the immoral and a lifestyle that is not good.

° They cannot do what average people do ordinarily without being stalked.

Advantages

° So many opportunities will be open to him because of his popularity.

° He may be very rich as a result of his celebrity status.

° the person will be recognized both locally and all over the whole world.

° He will be given VIP treatments wherever he goes to.

° They also have a very strong and huge fan base

Being popular is a thing of choice. Having outlined the pros and cons of doing so, one should weigh the matter objectively before taking a decision on his life course.
