Mummy, I want to become like WizKid when I grow up. Why? He's a popular star, a celebrity, he has fame and good money, people yearn for his sweat, they'll always want to do videos with him, he'll go for concert and associate with big men.

Mum, if I'm popular, you'll be popular. You'll have influence. That woman that usually insult you will be the one bowing down on her knees. Mom says..... Hmmmmm, You have a lot to learn. Ohkay, the JAMB question is; do you want to be popular?

It is.......good to be popular.

(B) Never
(C) Always

If I were to answer this question, which would it be? That brings us to the first person question.

Concerning the question I raised earlier in connection with this, I would say the option is A. People say never because they don't have an opportunity to be popular. People say always because they are already in the system. To me, it's sometimes good to be popular. So I'll be on the fence because of what being popular mean.

To be popular mean to be liked by a considerable large number of people, to be known for something be it wealth, knowledge, intelligence, achievements, job, qualities, attitude and way of doing things. Lately a young lady became popular because of her achievement as the chef with the longest chain cooking time. That's how she became popular.

Anybody can be popular both for something good and bad. I'll never want to be popular for something bad. I'll want to be popular and liked by everyone because of my attitude towards them and my qualities but I'll place limitations to this popularity so it won't be worldwide or outrightly obvious. On a normal note, I'm popular and liked by many on steemit because of my abilities to help newcomers on the platform.

I'm also popular in school for teaching people the bible. I'll want to be popular if it doesn't involve me pleasing people, going for concerts to be more popular, looking down on people that aren't my class and in all, financial popularity. That's when I'll not want to be Popular.

Being popular isn't a sin or a priority. Even Jesus was popular but didn't matter to him. There was a time he wanted to be crowned king by the Jews. He refute because he knew the aftermath of doing so. So to me, I don't see it as a priority to be popular. In the world sense of popularity, I feel it's actually a waste of time. You'll be doing things you didn't originally wanted doing.

You spend more time building followers, looking for fame and pursuing it. It's not bad to be popular. What we do to obtain and maintain it makes it bad. The popular singer Adekunle Gold discovered that there's no Happiness in pursuing fame and wealth as he has been in the system. Most times, these popularity makes us neglect the most important thing including our families because you're always wanted, to be seen.

This becomes your Idol and 99% of your time is to maintain it. So to me, the way of becoming popular doesn't matter to me even if it doesn't to others. The path can lead to a lot of injurious things. Many has done things that brings them pain in an attempt to be famous.

It's a general trend that once you have money, intelligence, and lot of achievements and you expose it to the world, you become popular worldwide or where you stay. People start giving you praise even if generally you're a bad person. Qualities that should make a person popular includes

• Love: This love extends from just helping the needy but to avoid looking down on others. If you say you love someone, you won't look down on that person because you've actually attained a stage he can't. This quality makes you popular for something other than financial possession and you get to be loved.

Even as the president of my country is popular, people still have distorted view about him. Another quality that makes one popular is when you choose to help people asides finances. There are people that needs spiritual, academic and emotional help.

• Humility can make us popular as people will always attribute this. There are some who with all the fame they have acquired, they choose to play low. Just imagine the richest man in the World wearing a simple cloth to watch the FIFA world cup match last year. This humility isn't in the sense that you don't do what you ought to do with money because of playing low but at times, not showing up is the best. Because you want to attend a small meeting, you go on convoy.

There are lot of pros and cons to be popular. The pros involved include, you get to establish relationships that can help you in future. Let's say one of the people you've been good to and have known you because of being popular in school can actually help you secure a job when opportunities reach their hands. They'll always remember you. You also get to be treated respectfully.

The Cons includes, fear of being kidnapped, neglect in responsibilities, little or no time for yourself and friends you love, restlessness in some cases, you may be forced to do things you originally didn't intend doing. That's life for you.

In summary, it's not bad to be popular. It's sometimes good but when there's no limitation to it, you become a slave to it. I invite @basil20, @emmy01, @mile16
