Recommendations to advance in science.

The US National Academies of Science, Engineering, Medicine and Medicine have presented their recommendations for the next 10 years in the field of planetary science and astrobiology, which would cover a period from 2023 to 2032.

The report is very broad, and among the recommendations is, for example, to give the highest scientific priority to NASA's robotic exploration efforts on Mars and specifically ask to complete the return of samples from Mars as soon as possible, without increasing or decreasing its current range.

In the field of lunar exploration, they ask to support industry associations and innovative effects to achieve scientific and exploration objectives, including the commercial lunar program, for landing services on our natural satellite, all with the goal that NASA can send astronauts in the Artemis or Artemis program to the moon within this same decade.

This huge number of scientists among their recommendations also calls for an organizational structure to be achieved referring to NASA that aligns responsibility, authority and accountability, because this detail seems so important to me, because in the space program to return to the moon there is a lot of money at stake and the question that is sometimes asked is is it being spent well.

We have seen strange cases such as the delay in the design of the space suit to go to the moon, strange because it turns out that NASA already had a space suit to go to the moon, from the apollo missions, but at some point they decided that it was better to update it , the point is that with the update of the space suit they went on to create a new space suit and now they have passed although the thing has become so complicated that they are late and this is not the only delay that there is in the subject of the Artemisa program to return to the moon, that is why this point of accountability, to see if things are being done well.

The report also talks about planetary defense to protect the earth from the threat of asteroids and comets and for this they ask that the US develop a solid planetary defense program, although I remember that the US and NASA do not they are the only ones that have a planetary defense program there are also other nations with plans to defend the earth from the attack or impact of asteroids and comets, such as the planetary defense office of the european space agency.
