GOD HAS NOT CALLED US TO UNCLEANNESS, BUT HOLINESS

  1. "For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
  2. THAT EACH OF YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO POSSES HIS OWN VESSEL IN SANCTIFICATION AND HONOUR,
  3. Not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
  4. that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.
  5. FOR GOD DID NOT CALL US TO UNCLEANNESS, BUT IN HOLINESS."
    1 Thessalonians 4:3-7 (NKJV)

• Sanctification is no longer emphasized or stressed in the church again—it is one of the missing ingredients for successful Christian life (2 Timothy 4:3).

  • Sin is on the increase today, especially the sin of immorality, sexual sin—even in the Church.
  • We have seen a church leader having illicit love affair with someone under his leadership.
  • A choir leader sleeping with the members of the choir.
  • A Christian brother sleeping with the wife of another brother; likewise, a bachelor girl having carnal affair with a married brother in the church (1 Corinthians 6:8-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:6).
THE Bible says God is the avenger of such acts (1 Thessalonians 4:6).

"BUT FORNICATION AND ALL UNCLEANLINESS OR COVETOUSNESS, LET IT NOT EVEN BE NAMED AMONG YOU, as is fitting for saints."
Ephesians 5:3 (NKJV)

• Every believer:
SHOULD know how to possess, control, his own body in holiness and honour—NOT in lustful passion like the unbelievers who do not know God (1 Thessalonians 4:4,5).
AND should not take advantage of and defraud another brother, that is, should not harm or cheat another brother by violating his wife (1 Thessalonians 4:6).

• God of Justice

  • God avenges for the ELECT (Luke 18:7,8).
  • God has called us to holiness not impurity (1 Thessalonians 4:7; 1 Peter 1:15,16).
  • Some people believe we are at the dispensation of grace; that if they do such a thing, that is, habitually live in SIN, God will just wink at it—overlook it.
  • Some have forgotten that as He is God of mercy, He is of Justice also (Romans 2:3-5).
  1. "What then? SHALL WE SIN BECAUSE WE ARE NOT UNDER LAW BUT UNDER GRACE? CERTAINLY NOT!
  2. Do you not know that whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?"
    Romans 6:15,16 (NKJV)

• The reason why a number of believers live in Sin without penitence is because they do not have the fear of God in their hearts (Job 28:28; Psalm 111:10; Proverbs 9:10).

  • The Scripture says: "The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death" (Proverbs 14:27).
  • Some started with a little Sin, but then, they begin to go deeper in it, until their hearts become callous, they are no longer remorseful when they committed Sin—their conscience is seared with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:2).
  • If you engaged in the things that produced DESIRES for sin, you can but not find yourself in the sinful acts (James 1:14,15).
  • Believers should be watchful, cautious, and circumspect, about the relationship they cultivated, things they exposed their minds to, in the media—what they watch and listen to on television, radio, and the internet. ALL these determine what you crave for, your DESIRES.
  • If you can discipline yourself in what you feed your mind with, and be wary of the relationships you cultivated, you will go far in your relationship with God, that is, you will experience success in your Walk with God.

"Adulterers and adulteresses! DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT FRIENDSHIP WITH THE WORLD IS ENMITY WITH GOD? Whoever want to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God."
James 4:4 (NKJV)

  • If that app on your phone or tablet fans lusts in your heart, you need to uninstall it.

• Note: If you are trapped in the sin of immorality or any other sin, you need to run to the cross—Jesus is waiting to help you out (Revelation 3:20).
EVEN if you have disappointed Him several times, He will still give you another chance—run to Him before it is too late (Isaiah 1:18).

  1. "Likewise you also, RECKON [consider] YOURSELVES TO BE DEAD INDEED TO SIN, BUT ALIVE TO GOD IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.
  2. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
  3. THEREFORE DO NOT PRESENT YOUR MEMBERS AS INSTRUMENTS of UNRIGHTEOUSNESS TO SIN but present yourself to God as being alive from the dead, AND YOUR MEMBERS AS INSTRUMENTS [weapons] OF RIGHTEOUSNESS TO GOD."
    Romans 6:11,12 (NKJV)

• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!
