1 THESSALONIANS 5:17

Pray without ceasing.

Hezekiah knew the efficacy of prayer that he prayed to God and God added 15 more years to his life.

ISAIAH 38:1-10

In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall and prayed unto the Lord,
And said, Remember now, O Lord, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
Then came the word of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,
Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.
And this shall be a sign unto thee from the Lord, that the Lord will do this thing that he hath spoken;
Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and was recovered of his sickness:
I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

Prayer is the weapon of a believer to conquer the evil plans of the devil. Prayer still makes things happen, prayer still changes situations or turns a person's challenges or problem for the better. Most Christians find it difficult to pray nowadays even though it is supposed to be a part of our Christian life but the fact is no matter how our prayer life is becoming cold and unpopular to Christians, it does not change the efficacy of its power has not reduced a bit.

We need prayer to be able to stop the ungodly plans of the evil one in our lives and our nation.

The devil knows that the only way he can make a Christian brother or sister backslide is to attack the prayer life of that Christian life and he does it by bringing distractions to take our mind away from prayers. We become too busy over nothing in particular. We become too busy that we become tired or weak and have little time left to pray.

Many at times, we go through a lot of challenges to the other or run from one problem to another no solution because we have failed to avail ourselves for prayers. We can change seasons and move mountains, we can as well speak to our sickness with our prayers. We can stop the raging stop going on in our family, homes, marriage, school, workplace, nation, communities with our prayer. All these things can only happen when we make ourselves available. When we make our prayer altar catch fire and become hot not lukewarm or cold. God does not like cold or lukewarm because He will spit you out. He wants us to always be hot and ready to speak to mountains.

REVELATION 3:16

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Our effective and fervent prayer makes even the raging wind and the rumbling storm still. Our prayers do much than we can ever imagine if only we are ready to make ourselves available for God to use the words of our mouth to turn things around in our nation, homes, marriage, and community. Our prayers can go a long way for the people around us. Do not forget, whatever we ask in Him and according to His will, He hears us and will do what we ask for.

JAMES 5:16

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Our prayers can solve many of those issues that have lingered in our family for too long. As Christian, we should pray at all times.

Do not let your work, family responsibilities, social media, television, mobile phone, or even church activities take your quality prayer time with God.
