Germany is planning an IOTA vaccination project (MIOTA)

People can access certificates using a private key, similar to the system used in blockchain-based settings.

The German government is considering a digital proof of vaccination against COVID-19 using Ubirch technology based on Ethereum and the IOTA platform. The project will begin this week and will allow people who have already been vaccinated against the virus to confirm their identity. The system will be tested on IOTA, as well as on other blockchains as part of the strategic control over the spread of the virus.

UBIRCH will supplement the physical issue with electronic certificates. Blockchain technology will also be used to store digital certificates.

The process can also be adapted for other European countries if it is successfully certified in Germany.

Once the process begins, gym or restaurant operators will only be allowed to grant access to people who have been vaccinated. To access these services, they will be required to present a physical or digital certificate. Both the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Health are working together to launch this process.

At the beginning of the program, the vaccinated first receive a printed code. They can save the code on their mobile phones, which will provide a more convenient confirmation of vaccination.

The report shows that it will be easier for vaccinated people to access their mobile codes as proof of vaccination, as there will be no need to carry a physical certificate.

The security of digital certificates will be guaranteed, as the program will use anonymity and encryption by default of the leading blockchain networks. The German government is serious about vaccinating as many citizens as possible as soon as possible.
