Steemit Crypto Academy Season4 Beginners course- Task4: Blockchain, Decentralization,Block explorer
Special thanks to the professor @yousafharoonkhan that gave the lecture on block explorer, decentralization and blockchain. I will be attending to question 3.
Designed by me using desygner
What is a block explorer? And What is its purpose and use? Search for different cryptocurrency block explorers and list them below. At least 5 different cryptocurrencies. Also explore the transactions of a crypto coin on block explorer and explain with the help of screenshot.
Block Explorer is coined from two(2) words namely; Block and Explore(r)
Blocks are a set of transactions that have been processed, permanently recorded and approved by Miners.
To Explore means to search for, examine or even scrutinize.
Therefore, Block explorer are search engine tools that enables and permits users to see all the transactions on the Blockchain. These tools uses application programming interfaces (API) and Blockchain nodes to obtain the data from the Blockchain.
Block Explorers are more like the Wikipedia and Google of Cryptocurrencies.
Once a trader or merchant initiates a transaction, a set of code will be generated. This code is known as the Transaction Hash.
The receiver can use this transaction ID to check if the transaction was successful as it contains all the details needed including the wallet address, amount sent as well as the time sent.
We can view Block Explorer like a mirror that enables us to see or view what's happening on the Blockchain.
The purpose and Use of a Block Explorer includes;
It enables users and traders to check the status of their transactions.
It helps miners to confirm block activities and therefore receive their block rewards.
It enables anyone to keep in tracks of all the market activities.
It also enables us to search for the transaction history of any address provided you know the wallet address.
Some explorers enable users to see the largest transactions for the day.
Some explorers enable users to know how many orphaned and stale blocks were realized in a Blockchain.
Block explorers allow us to see who have successfully mined a given block. This can be seen by looking at its height.
With Block explorer, you can check the block that was mined first on a particular chain.
