First I wish to appreciate professor @gbenga for this incredible lecture for this week, and am grateful participating.

Before stating a yes or even a no in this question I would like us to assess my stance on the exchange market, which will take us into the reason for my choice and preference.

Basically there are three notable variables here which must be expounded before emphatically and relationally making a preference of one over the other. They are viz: Crypto Asset, Wallet and Exchange.

FIRST WHAT IS CRYPTO ASSET?
From my own perspective and in reality we know that assets are already made or realized wealth ment for further creation of wealth, which could be in sort of fixed or current notation.
Further when assets are in their fixed nature, it takes you awhile if paradventure you wish to turn it to liquid before making use of it.

On the other hand it is very easy to invest and manipulate your current assets because they are always at their current needed exposure, and possibly at your disposal without much formal protocols before utilizing it.

Then Crypto Asset on it's own are wealth which comes in the form of abstract and unpalpable assets ( you don't touch them, but you can visualize and feel them) owned and managed by individuals who may or may not have full knowledge of them in reality. Eg. The Steem Crypto, The Bitcoin, Etherium etc.
Further they are decentralized in nature, in that you can't find them in banks or any financial institution, where they can be easily controlled, but they have their existence on different platforms where they are being conceptualized with real value in exchange by their owners.

SECONDLY TO BE PRECISE, WHAT IS A CRYPTO WALLET?

A crypto wallet could be seen as an organized and synchronizing interface that houses or contains one or more cryoto assets, which gives the user full knowledge of the value or amount of cryptos in his possession disposable, which cannot be touched without the permission of the rightful owner disclosing his securities, but can be tampered with if he(the owner) clicks probably any fishing link of fraudulent airdrops or probably similar cases.

ON THE OTHER HAND I COULD STILL GO WITH THE QUESTION, WHAT IS AN EXCHANGE PLATFORM?

This could be seen as a centralized ( meaning that it is managed by some people) platform where different traders converge with either their cryptos or Fiat to exchange either of them at a higher or lower rate of demand, depending the current market trend.
In addition, cryptos on this platform could be tampered with at any time because of it's centralized nature, either by freezing of individuals account, the exchange platform going into liquidation etc.

Further it is very necessary to state that decentralization of the cryotos are situations where there's no Central or better still intermediate management of any API that mines or even deal in the generation of cryptos but rather it is based in Pair to pair or even the interface to Miner directly without any probable restriction or flow of transaction.

Finally at noting and with the full knowledge of all these I have elucidated and expantiated,

I WOULD PREFER TO KEEP MY CRYPTO ASSETS IN A WALLET THAN AN EXCHANGE PLATFORM WITH REASONS

1.PROPER SECURITY: In any wallet for instance, the cryotos in it are well secured that is because your wallet can only be manipulated with the generated keys that you kept secret, further giving my choice of wallet over exchange an upper hand.

2.LOSS OF VALUE IN THE EXCHANGE PLATFORM: Basically their is the tendency to depreciated in value if the crypto you are holding in the exchange platform for instance goes into a steady downward trend, further it makes you to loose the value of the cryto you deposited to the platform, hence discouraging the comfidentiality in the exchange platform

3.THE TENDENCY OF LOOSING YOUR ENTIRE ASSET IF THE EXCHANGE IS BEING HACKED: One may loose some or possibly all of his accumulated cryptos if paradventure mischievous activities of hackers was able to penetrate the centralized exchange platform. So with this or is not log term wise to keep or leave your crypto in the exchange platform.

4.CONFIDENTIAL ASSESSIBILITY OF YOUR CRYPTOS WHILE IN YOUR WALLET: Really there is every tendency that as long as your CRYPTOS are in your wallet, it is perpetually intact despite the number of years it might stay in there. This also is a greater merit to keeping your CRYPTOS in your wallet over the exchange platform.

5.THE READINESS OR EAGERNESS TO PLACE TRADES: This is basically human, with my philosophy that "if you have, you would like to have more"davchi. To be sincere once you export your CRYPTOS or probably be exchange them with Fiat, there is every tendency that you will be compelled to trade with it, instead of leaving it an a dormant asset in the exchange, having In mind that you would make profit despite what and on the course you might loose all your crypto assets. Which makes it malignant to hold your CRYPTOS in an exchange.

These and more are my obvious reasons for profferring and better prefferring to keep my CRYPTOS in wallets rather than in exchange platforms.

Finally, am grateful to prof. @gbenga for taking me through this lecture and more especially to @steemitblog for creating such an educative platform, thanks.
