Hello fellow steemians, I am excited to be part of this week's engagement challenge and I must tell you that I'm impressed with the topic for this week. Why not relax while you read through my blog.

Introduction

Language is a form of communication between two or more people and also, I believe animals also communicate in their own languages speaking from watching how they behave with each other and sometimes how they can be trained by humans.

If you will agree with me, I will say there are basically two types of languages which are spoken and sign languages.

The spoken language is the one we use our mouths to express ourselves while the sign language is used by special people with inability to speak by using their hands and other available things to communicate.

However, for the sake of this contest I will use the spoken language to elaborate the topic as stated by the community.

Before I continue, let me say a little about myself.
I go by the username @patience90, from Nigeria which is located in West Africa.
We speak diverse languages languages in Nigeria but three (3) indigenous languages have been chosen as our major languages which are Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo and English as our official language. English language is used to transact businesses, in the offices and every other places that is formal.

What is meant by language? Define language in your own words.

Language is a sound or sign used in communicating with one another in a given community which aids understanding among a people.

How language connects an individual to his family, globe or specific society.

Language connects individual with the family and the society at large by communication. Communication is a bond that brings the world together.

Which is yours mother tongue? and which languages are spoken and understood in your home other than your mother tongue?

My mother tongue is Eggon found in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. Aside my mother tongue, Hausa and English languages are well spoken and understood in my home.

How many languages do you know and how did you learn more than one language?

I know three (3) languages perfectly which are Eggon (my mother tongue), English (official language) and Hausa (one of the major languages in my country).
Though I was taught French in school but can only remember the greetings.

In which language did you study in school to university and which language do you prefer in the education system in your country and why?

English being the official language of Nigeria, was what I used in studying all through my educational levels and that is what is being used in Nigeria my country reason being that my ancestors were colonized by the British thereby adopted English language. So I always prefer English language though sometimes I wish I could speak French, Dutch, Spanish and Arabic. Hahaha isn't that funny?

How one language or more than one languages plays an important role in the development of society.?

I believe more than one language plays important role in developing a society because there are investors who do not speak your local language so, if other languages are introduced, it will aid communication and encourage lots of investors.

How does culture relate to language?

Culture is a way of life and language helps to communicate the culture to the people. We use language to explain culture to the people so they will know where they come from.

Would you like to prefer writing in your own language at the time of writing posting on steemit, if yes why and if not why not?

If given the opportunity, I would like to sometimes use my language to communicate on steemit. All thanks to the translation app. It will be a pleasure to see others communicate in my language which will help globalize my language.

If you want to promote your language in the world, how will you do it? and if you already done, then how much success have you achieved?

Presently, my language is being promoted in the world. Yes, alphabets have been produced already and even some books are already printed and distributed for promotion. And so far, there has been great development especially for those who were not born at home, they have access to the materials which helps them communicate with those at home especially the aged fluently.
