Steemit Enagement Challenge || Season2, Week #2 || Language. How language connects an individual to his family, glob or specific socieity.? by @chiabertrand
Hi all,
I believe you all had a wandeful weekend. We are already into week2 of the engagement challenge and I'm happy to be dropping down me week2 challenge in this community today. The contest is talking about about How language connects us to our family, glob or specific socieity.?. Without wasting any time, my entry goes thus
Language is characterized by the speech, the tongue, vernacular, dialect and so on. It can simply be defined as a system of communication which is usually used by a group of a particular community, country or people. This language usually consist of well constructed, structured and conventional words which is carried by writing or speech
Language can still be defined as a system of words that people can use to express their feelings and thoughts. It is entirely and exclusively or non-instinctive and voluntary ways of speaking out ones emotions, ideas and feelings using symbols , signs and words
Language is very important because without a language, one cannot communicate with his fellow brother and we may turn to be like animals if we lack a medium of communication in the form of a language. Enfact we all have our common languages we use in communicating with people in our community or country and it is central to any social interaction in all communities and countries around the world and the wold of each community is different with different languages
Language plays a vital part in a family because it connects the family together since the family consist of two or more people that share thesame ancestry and comes from a lineage. This families have their particular and common language understood by all members of the family.
Language is very vital for human communication because it's gives a cognitive way of communicating with one another in a society since a community always has one particular language that can be generally understand by the members of the community hence connecting and bringing them together
I come from From KOM, a village in the Northwest region of Cameroon. I speak my mother tongue fluently and my mother tongue or dialect is call is called ITANGIKOM which is well vocalize, articulated and known and understood by any KOM individual or visitors who have stayed in KOM land
Cameroon is bilingual and I'm lucky to speak fluent English and French and part of my family speak fluent English and French but some don't know french since they never had the chance to learn it
So In general, The highest language spoken in my home that everyone understands and speak is my mother tongue and English language. This two language can be understood by all my family members
Apart from my mother tongue (ITANGIKOM), I also know two other dialects, one is BUM language which is a village besides KOM. I know this language because part of my extended family comes from this village. The other dialect I know is Bambili language, I Know this language because I have grown up in bambili my entire life as I started my primary, secondary school and the University only in bambili. This is why I know how to speak this language. But I'm not so fluent in BUM and Bambili language since they are not my mother tongue, however I understand them very well and I also speak the language but not as much as the natives of the tribes
Apart from English which I speak fluently since I come from the Anglophone zone in Cameroon, I can boost that I also speak and understand French language fluently because I have been to francophone zones on several occasions. French is part of the subject I have been learning in school since primary to the University
So In general, I can say I Know 5 different languages
As I earlier said, French is one of the subjects we study in school and it's a compulsory subject that any person Schooling in Cameroon most study since Cameroon one of the only two countries that are bilingual in the world. English Language is also a compulsory subject that we study in schools in Cameroon
This two languages (English and French) are the only two subjects we study from primary to the University in Cameroon without having any choice since they are the two official spoken languages in my country
Like I said earlier, Cameroon is a bilingual country with English and French as official languages. However, since I come from the Anglophone zone on Cameroon that speak English as it's main Language, I would prefer English to be use in the Educational system in Cameroon
Again, English is the most spoken and the general language that the whole world acknowledge, I will prefer it to also be used in educational system in my country.
It should be noted that English is the most Common and spoken language in the world and in some general events such as sporting events, musical events, entertaining events, gospel events and other events that are organized, people from different countries attend this events and the major language that speakers are requesting to speak is English. So English is very important and it is ask by a lot of known English speaking countries to learn because in general events, English is always the official and common language spoken especially by top speakers
For a society or a country to be more united, one language is enough for them to know and have a common understand since they won't be any biased or favoritism because a community where more than one language is spoken, it always turn out one language is more preferred than the other hence bringing in disunity and distrust amongs individual which will inturn lead to the downfall of the society since it's via a language that communities members can identify themselves and express their culture, history or tradition. It's through one language that a sociaty can grow very well since they learn, participate in in variety of different aspects of the community and has human rights
I speak with experience because of my country is bilingual and we have been suffering from so many things since one language is more favoured than the other. This has brought conflict In serveral occasions and presently, we are into seriouse war now which is known as the Ambazonian crises. I wish my country was not a bilingual country, like all this recent happenings couldn't have been occuring. This crises has lead to downfall of my country In a terrible way.
Culture and language relationships are too broad and consist of many different and connected things hence making it to be connected together
For a language, we can consider it to be a linguistic knowledge while a culture consist of shared knowledge by a particular community. Then for a culture, an individual interact with the community that speaks one language and for a language, the community always directed to a group of specific people. This implies that for a culture always identified by one particular and unique language that will be able to separate them from other cultures
In conclusion, CULTURE can be considered as social products, living style, social knowledge and behavior while LANGUAGE can can be considered as expressing the culture, cultural mediator and symbol/frame of that particular culture
YES
The first thing is that for one to succeed in life, you will need to do what you can do best so as to come out one of the best. So writing on steemit in any language is generally accepted because it can be translated and understood In any language
So for me to progress in steemit, I need to create contents in the language that I know best regardless of the community. The best language I can speak, write and understand Is English. So I will always create contents on steemit by creating them with English since it will help me to understand what I am writing
The first thing here Is to know how we can promote a language.
Promoting a language is a pretty good idea because people get to know and learn your language. I think I haven't promoted my language before, or perhaps I may have done it unknowingly,. My language is ITANGIKOM) and if I wan to promote it, I will simply do it in the following ways:
I will start by always encouraging conversation in my language with people because they will learn fast since they will always try to speak in my language. During conversation, I will always be correcting them if should incase they make any mistake and I will always repeat difficult words to them so that they should be family with the word
I will create and promot the use of a translator In a way that the translator can be translated from my language into any other languages. This will help alot
I will make my language to be an official subject in schools so that people will be able to study it as one of the subjects
I will promote my language on social media platforms since billon of people uses social media. I will always be writing things on my social media in my language, with this, most of my friends will get know my language very fast
I will promote my language by writing books showing all the, kom alphabets, words, meaning, vocabularies and I will even go extra miles to create a Video and show how some words are being pronounce
Thanks so much for your time everyone, I am inviting my fellow friends @tangwe-rene, @tenguhatanga, @wyzcekunited, @monjuapollonia, and @echamroland to come and participate in this amazing contest

Yes friend, you are welcome.
Chaiii, it's a shame that I forgot how to call it. It is bad nah. Thank you for reminding me it's itangikom.
Language is an integral part of culture. I like the way explained this point.
I personally love itangikom, it's because of this Language that I feel very intergrated with the kom culture. My second home.

Interesting how you have detailed your post, the presentation was top-notch, being a bilingual country has made Cameroon realize a lot of setbacks but I should say that shouldn't be the case, these two languages are official languages which are needed to be widely supported by the 10 division of the country, which in turn will yeild positive effect to the country as a whole. They should see the benefits of both languages in a good way not the other way around, regardless, I didn't expect less though, you have provided a good answer about your language and other languages you understood
Best regards
Steem greetings dear bro.
Thanks for appreciating my efforts in writing down this article
You are right bro, but it's unfortunate that they are bias as far as English speaking and French speaking regions are concerned because one is being more favoured than the other. However, I am still proud to belongs to a bilingual country
This is what everyone was expecting but unfortunately it isn't this way. presently we are having serious crises in our nation that have developed into civil war just because of The bilingual nature of our country and so many innocent people have lost their lives as a result of this war. Two days ago, my friend was short to dead with a stray bullet as a result of the encounter between the military and Ambazonia Fighter's which my friend was caught up in the middle of the encountered. May his soul RIP
Thanks for engagement with me on my post brother
Omg, this is a disaster, rip to your friend
A steemian I love reading his posts because he takes his time to hit the nail by the head and booom he amazed me again.
Language is a key factor in human development and the ability for an individual to speak a multitude of language is to his advantage because he's a linguist.
I love learning languages because I'm a social animal that loves making new friends on daily basis.
Thanks to our Multi lingual country with two foriegn languages that are world's spoken top two languages and through the bilingualism commission implemented in schools, were capable of speaking three and more languages
Promoting our language through books, media will be the utmost ideology of keeping it safe for generations yet to come.
Best of luck !!!🌹
