Today, the number of children suffering from thalassemia is increasing in every city, town and village. As you well know, this is a hereditary disease. There are two types of thalassemia minor and thalassemia major.
If a person has thalassemia minor, he can lead a normal life, but if he is born with thalassemia major, then his life depends on blood donated by others.
I don't know much about this, but from what I've read, if both parents of a child have thalassemia minor, the risk of their child developing thalassemia major is very high. It may be Because hereditary conditions are more likely to run in all family members, cousin marriage is also one of the causes of thalassemia. If a family has thalassemia or any other hereditary disease, it is best to avoid cousin marriage.
Second, with the permission of scholars, if a boy and a girl are tested for thalassemia minor before marriage, it will be known whether there is a risk of disease in the children or not.
This may sound strange, but in reality, if we want to build a healthy society, we have to think outside the box.
Dozens of thalassemia major patients request blood on Facebook every day and may Allah reward those who try to provide blood for these children. But this is a very difficult task.
