Contest | My Warrior is ..- Steemit ශ්රී ලංකා | @marinmex | Francisco de Miranda |The Precursor of Independence
When we review the history of the Venezuelan heroes the list is long, but there is no doubt that the greatest ones have been the Liberator Simón Bolívar and the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda, in this opportunity I will talk to you about the Precursor of the Independence of Venezuela, Francisco de Miranda, who was also the designer of the flags of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela, being the flag of Venezuela raised for the first time in Venezuelan soil on August 3, 1806, although it was raised earlier in Haiti, on March 12, 1806.
Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda was born in Caracas on March 28, 1750, studied in Caracas until he graduated from high school and traveled to Spain where he made a military career. He participated in the war of independence of the United States, where he obtained the title of Lieutenant Colonel, had relevant participation in the French Revolution where he was declared a hero of the Revolution, his name is engraved on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and his statue is found in front of that of General Kellerman in the Field of Valmy, France. He was also granted by Catherine the Great the rank of Colonel of the Russian Army. All these distinctions have earned him the title of the most universal Venezuelan.
This great military man went several times from the greatness of his victories to prison, but he always managed to prove his innocence and regain his freedom. In 1798 he traveled to London where he began his preparation for the liberation of Venezuela, a fight he began in 1806, aboard the ship Leander, with which he managed to reach Venezuelan lands on August 1st. But since he had no support, he had to sail again to London where he stayed until 1810, when Simón Bolívar and Andrés Bello convinced him to return, telling him that the conditions were already met.
On July 5, 1811, he signed the Act of the Declaration of Independence of Venezuela and before the advance of the royalist troops, he was granted the rank of Generalissimo, but various events did not allow him to resist the Spanish troops and he signed a Capitulation on July 25, 1812, an act that was considered treason by the patriot army and he was taken to jail, but for military treason he was handed over to the Spaniards and was transferred to La Carraca prison in Spain, where he died on July 14, 1816.

Hello @marinmex ,
Thank you very much for the participation. It was a really good read !
Francisco de Miranda seems to be a great man who fought for the people.
Situation was similar here.
This was the sad destiny of most of the Sri Lankan warriors who fought against British.
Hi @marinmex,
Good article. After reading your post I realized that Francisco de Miranda is a brave man. Like him, many people have fought to liberate our country Sri Lanka from the British.
Felicidad siempre
