On 10 December, with about 50 freedom fighters, including Lieutenant Qayyum and Lieutenant Awal, he took up a position at Bargharia, west of the Chapainawabganj, then East Pakistan. The plan was to confuse the invading forces by shelling the Indian artillery the next day. The freedom fighters will attack at that opportunity. But the shelling did not happen. On 12 December and 13 December, Mohiuddin Jahangir tried to contact the Indian artillery but failed.
The plan was to attack on 14 December. Only 20 fighters of the Mukibahini advanced with Mohiuddin Jahangir. In the severe winter, he crossed the river Mahananda on foot through the Rehaichar area. After crossing the river, the attack started from the north. With this surprise attack, the fighters along with Mohiuddin Jahangir continued to advance towards the south. The plan was to attack in such a way that they could not shoot from the south while killing the enemy from the north. This battle of front and front became increasingly fierce. And the danger came when the Pak army in only a few bunkers was unharmed. A few Pakistan Civil Armed Forces soldiers noticed the matter on the dam They also joined the Pakistani forces. From then on they started firing. Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir instructed to move forward Meanwhile, a bullet hit Mohiuddin Jahangir directly in the forehead. He immediately fell to the ground and died.

The freedom fighters were forced to retreat due to the indiscriminate firing of the invading forces. They jumped into the river and went to the Mehedipur liberation camp. After crossing the river in severe winter, their condition is almost dead. Meanwhile, they got the news of the martyrdom of Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir. Turning grief into strength, he jumped on the battlefield again. Snatched victory. Chapainawabganj became free!
Mohiuddin Jahangir's lifeless body was recovered from the river bank and buried with honor at the historic Sona Mosque premises in Chapainawabganj district. His graveyard is built of colorful stones on the south side of the eastern courtyard of the mosque. His memorial has been built outside the walls of this mosque.
In honor of Mohiuddin Jahangir, 'Agarpur Union of Babuganj' has been renamed as 'Mohiuddin Jahangir Union' in Barisal. A 'Memorial Museum' and 'Library in Memory of the Greatest Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir' has also been established in his village.
