Gymnastics - 6 Amazing Uneven Bars Skills by Russian Gymnasts
After the breakup of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, 3 new nations emerged as powerhouses in women's gymnastics: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus. The gymnasts who came from those countries were great in all 4 events.
After the 2000 Olympics, due to lack of funds provided by some of the governments and the fact that many of the coaches left their native countries for better opportunities abroad, only Russia remained a title contender for the most important international gymnastics competitions.
Since the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Russians have won medals and excelled in every single event. However, there is one where they have had more medals and elements named after their gymnasts than any other nation: the uneven bars. They are masters at an event where the most important qualities are grace, having "swing", and being light as opposed to being fast and having a lot of power. Russian gymnasts are able to throw the most difficult routines and execute them as close to perfection as possible. The skills in this video are a perfect example of that.
