Thursday is Butterfly Day and Insect Day Giveaway - Week 43
Lindigi Camponotus
Before the week of insects and butterflies, I didn't know much about the diversity of these little and enigmatic friends. And now... Look at the headline of my almost scientific post ha ha but I must confess I had help from @abneagro to identify these friends that I share with you today, totally thanks to him.
Ants are undoubtedly an example of work and survival. But some may become a plague that affects plants, flowers and fruits, because their colonies can be quite large in their habitats.
Specifically Camponutus are workers who can feed on spider eggs, other ants, seeds and others. The scene that I show you really caught my attention because the pair of ants guard some things that look like small spider eggs. It is undoubtedly a small predator in the life cycle of nature.
Brown is not my favorite color but at them it looks elegant so I will call them the elegant workers.

Me encantó la imagen donde se evidencia el daño que ha sufrido la hoja. Es una muestra de lo peligrosas y dañinas de las hormigas en los huertos. Muy obreras, muy trabajadoras pero, hay que mantenerlas bien lejos. Excelente trabajo amiga. Felicitaciones.
Gracias amiga, cierto eso, pueden llegar a ser un peligro sobre todo en árboles frutales.

Luisaa, interesante este post en el que nos muestras a estas lindas amigas conocidas como Camponotus lindigi. Dentro del género Camponotus, existen muchísimas especies que en su gran mayoría son hormigas madereras o carpinteras, por lo que suelen causar daños considerables en determinado tipo de plantas. Por otra parte, en la imagen inicial se aprecia que estas hormigas están custodiando a una especie "cochinillas" (cocoideos), son esas pequeñas "costras" verdosas que se aprecian en la hoja; dichos cocoideos, si pueden ser una plaga más perjudicial para las plantas, ya que succionan constantemente los fluidos de las especies vegetales y pueden transmitir diversas fitopatógenos a nuestras plantas. Estás hormigas les dan protección a ese tipo de hemípteros, y a cambio las cochinillas les dan un liquido azucarado que les sirve como alimento a las hormigas, una increíble interacción simbiótica entre estás especies.
Lindas fotografías de estas hormiguitas, un abraazoo!.
Una pequeña corrección, el nombre de esta especie no es "Lindigi camponotus" jeje, la forma correcta de escribirla es al revés "Camponotus lindigi", el género (camponotus) va siempre primero, lo mismo aplica para cualquier nombre científico.
