Sydney Opera House (1957 - 1973) is the work of late modern architecture. It is admired internationally and is proudly valued by the people of Australia. The book was created by a young architect who understands and recognizes the potential provided by a site with an amazing Sydney Harbor background. In its short life, the Sydney Opera House has earned a reputation as a world-class performing arts center and a symbol of both Sydney and Australia.
World Heritage Installed
The Sydney Opera House was written on the World Heritage List in June 2007: "The Sydney Opera House is a great architectural work of the 20th century. These are a few strands of creativity, both in the form of architecture and structural design, a large city statue carefully set in marvelous ocean views and a world-renowned iconic building "UNESCO.

Utzon Room
The first major project of Utzon is the reception hall renovation into an amazing, light-filled space that highlights the original 'concrete beams' and the long-walled tapestries designed by him who hang opposite the harbor prospects. Noted for excellent acoustics, it was Utzon's only designed authentic space at the Sydney Opera House and renamed the Utzon Room in his honor in 2004.
Modern changes
The project was followed by the first change to the exterior of the building with the addition of a new Colonnade along the western side, which shades nine new large glass openings to formerly solid exterior walls

The Utzon-led project, completed in 2006, gives theater their first view foyers from Sydney Harbor. Interior houses' are now being renovated to the Utzon specification, becoming an attractive space for coherent customers. The design also includes the first interior elevator and public escalator to help customers move less.
Utzon is working on the design to renovate the aging and inadequate Opera Theater. On all projects, he worked with his son Jan architect, and Sydney-based architect Richard Johnson Johnson Pilton Walker.
Architecture Prize
In 2003 Utzon received the Pritzker prize, the highest honor of international architecture.
