Trabzon

According to researches, communities began to live in the Lower Paleolithic Period in Trabzon for the first time. Small communities in the Mesolithic and Chalcolithic period lived in Trabzon and its surroundings. The first community known to live in Trabzon is the Kaşka community that lived in Trabzon during the Bronze Age.

As a city, Trabzon was founded for the first time by the king of Pontus. Trabzon was a very important trade center for the kingdom of Pontus. In later years, the Roman Empire conquered Trabzon.

But many different states tried to conquer Trabzon. In particular, Goths, Sassanids and Arabs attacked Trabzon many times. But they were not be successful. After the weakening of the Byzantine empire, Trabzon was ruled by the Trabzon Empire. And Trabzon has been the capital of the Trabzon empire.

In 1461, Trabzon was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Trabzon has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
