Giresun

The first communities living in Giresun are Kaşka's. Giresun was first used as a city by the kingdom of Kolkhis.

In the sixth century BC, Giresun was conquered by the Persians. After Alexander the Great defeated the Persians, Giresun was ruled by the Pontus kingdom. Giresun was later conquered by the Romans. Giresun is an important city for the Roman Empire. And the Romans ruled Giresun for 1300 years.

In 1397, Giresun was conquered by the Turks. Finally, it was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1461. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Giresun has been a part of the Republic of Turkey.
