Aphrodisias

The city of Aphrodisias was founded in the 5th century BC in the Carian region. The city of Aphrodisias has become an important art center during the Roman Empire. Aphrodisias was founded as a gift to the goddess Aphrodite. However, the city of Aphrodisias was destroyed many times due to earthquakes. And to the present day, very few works have survived from the city of Aphrodisias. Aphrodisias has been agreed by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.
