Philippines Flag Evolution, History And The Meaning

Flag's have a history and meaning in every country like Japan the red circle represent the sun the symbol meaning brightness, sincerity and warmth, the name Japan's translates to "The land of the rising sun." And the white in flag represent purity and honestly. Hundred's year past, Philippines have many flag use and design before our present Philippine Flag.

The Past Flag of the Filipino

1.) The Flag of the Revolution

The first flag of the Philippines. The three  "K" of the flag stand for Kataas-taasang Kagalang-galangan Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or Most High and Most Sacred Society of the Son's of People. Sad to say, no one know exact date of this flag use and made.

Like in the first flag the arrange of the three "K" equilateral triangle. Some of the member of revolution arrange the K to triangle and some of the generals of the revolution designs their own flag like Andress Bonifacio and Gregorio del Pilar. From 1892 - 1896,

The symbol center of the sun is an ancient Filipino alphabet "K" for Kalayaan or Freedom. The eight rays of the sun represent provinces in the Philippines, Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, Tarlca, Batangas, Laguna and Cavite.

Bandila ng Matagumpay or Victorious Flag, carried eight rays  in the rising sun to symbolize the first eight provinces that were put under the martial law by the Spanish Authorities.

9.) Gregorio del Pilar Flag

First Katipunan flag use three colors: blue, red and black. The three colors symbol the Battle of Pasong Balite, Bulacan and his last stand and the Battle of Tirad Pass, Ilocos Sur on December 2, 1899.

10.) The Present Flag

This flag has adopted to all previous Katipunan flag. Six weeks after the Battle of Manila Bay, Emilio Aguinaldo waved this flag in the balcony.

The Three Star And The Sun

The Three Star of the flag symbolize and represent the three main geographical regions of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The Sun represent independence and the eight rays of the sun represent the eight provinces that led the Philippine uprising against Spanish rule.

  • The blue symbolize patriotism, justice and freedom.
