Поводом для написания этой заметки стала подготовка 9-я публикации в серии #GET999, в которой с ямской гоньбой связано довольно много но, не представилось возможности раскрыть значения этого исторического термина. Я не буду глубоко вдаваться во всю специфику связанную с этим видом деятельности т.к. это потребует раскрытия множества архаизмов вышедших из употребления в речи.

Yamshik | Coachman, in the modern - the postman.
Yam is a post station in antic Russia. From the Turkic word "jam", the road or post station. It is believed that historically this system of communications was introduced in Russia during the so-called "Golden Horde".
Yamskoye duty - a type of obligation of the population of Russia to the state in the period from the 5th to 18th centuries. Expressed in kind in the form of organization of cargo transportation, mail and escort of civil servants on the serviced section of the tract (road). Yamskaya duty could be family and appointed. The coachmen had to keep three horses to ensure their function.
Yamskaya Chase - was a system of post yards (pits), designed to change horses, located at a distance of 40-50 versts (≈ 1066,8 м) from each other.

Ям - почтовая станция на Руси. От тюркского слова “jam”, дорога или почтовая станция. Считается что исторически эта система коммуникаций была введена в России в период так называемой “Золотой Орды”.
Ямская повинность - вид обязательства населения России перед государством в период с 5-18 вв. Выражалась в натуральном виде в виде организации перевозок грузов, почты и сопровождения государственных служащих на обслуживаемом участке тракта (дороги). Ямская повинность могла быть семейной и назначаемой. Ямщики обязаны были держать три лошади для обеспечения своей функции.
Ямская гоньба - представляла собой систему почтовых дворов (ямов), предназначенных для смены лошадей, расположенных на расстоянии 40—50 вёрст (≈ 1066,8 м) друг от друга.
