Vriesea : a beautiful herbaceous plant

Vriesea is one of the prettiest bromeliads. It is a nice plant that grows on trees. Vriesea lives in the warm, wet tropics of South and Central America. You can find it in places like Brazil, Argentina, and the West Indies.

This plant has spike-shaped flowers on a stem. In nature, the stem can grow to about three feet long. The flowers are bright yellow or red. Sometimes, they are green, white, or orange. Some plants even have many colors.

The flowers of Vriesea last a long time. The bracts can last for 4 to 5 months. But, the flowers only last a few weeks. Vriesea stems are usually very long. The bright bracts give it the nickname "flaming sword."
