You shouldn't upvote over 7 days old posts?

in #help5 years ago

I'm doing now the Udemy course Understanding the Steem Blockchain economy.

I'm happy to return to it and I'm trying to get it done today....

However, @paulag 's saying that I shouldn't upvote over 7 days old posts.

I have been doing that, what's the harm in that?
Can someone please help me here?

Doing an udemy course is find, but you are paid when you ask questions, so it is good to ask questions.

Thank you so much for being an awesome Partiko user! You have received a 2.34% upvote from us for your 419 Partiko Points! Together, let's change the world!

The harm is that all posts and comments get paid out at exactly seven days. When you upvote such posts your vote will be ineffectual as to how much the author will gain in author rewards and you will gain in curation rewards. But you will have wasted both your voting power (at least that's my impression) and your Resource Credits (essentially meaning bandwidth which is a measure of your ability to transact on chain). Just don't upvote anything older than a week.

Thanks, it explains a lot.

The week being a worthwhile age of the posts.

And commenting, or resteeming or sharing the older posts make them reactivated.

And that brings them inside the valuable upvoting

No. That's a complete misunderstanding and it will hurt you financially. You can't make a week old or an older post active again by any means. When a post is paid out, it's paid out and that's that.
