Heatmine

in #heatmine5 years ago

A canadian company has developed a technology that recycles thermal energy that is created by processors that mine coins. As the GPU's create a lot of excess heat the company has created an apparatus that efficiently recycles the heat to your home thus saving you from costs of heating up your home in the usual ways. Now you don't need to let your miners heat go to waste! :)

Here are some pics taken from their website explaining it more, if you want to sign up and maybe order one for yourself (especially if you live in colder countries), then go to https://www.heatmine.com/

It's nice to see companies finally come up with solutions to all the excess heat that crypto miners are creating, especially for people that live in warmer countries they won't need to have the miners inside their house anymore.

Hey, nice post! I am from heatmine and will gladly answer questions regarding our project. Please bear in mind the website is still unfinished.

Hey! Very cool to see you in here! Since this post is already a bit old, feel free to create a new one yourself and I could resteem(share) it to my followers in case they have some questions about it. :)

Let me know in case you do, although I may warn you activity isn't that high here right now as we're at the bottom of the bear market. ^^

I don't imagine it's that hard. Though not everyone has a server farm or mining...do they call it a farm too? Anyway...if they placed these in the basements of condos and apartment buildings where they also have access to solar or cheap renewable power, it could likely reduce their heating needs considerably. I suppose the main difficulty is that the power needs are substantial. Perhaps installing solar in a building might offset this. If it's a relatively small setup, maybe the increase wouldn't be that substantial.

Mining is already making some people in certain areas freak out, because much of the grid isn't built to handle the power usage. I personally blame the power company for this though, as the issues exposed by mining are proving that the grid isn't actually build to withstand the usage that the houses are rated for. Even without mining, more and more people are getting more and more devices, and not all of them will be the low power handheld variety. A group of a few nerds could easily put the grid under similar strain, even without mining. Mining just means that one nerd with a bit of cash will use as much power as a group of them. Or perhaps as much power as one nerd that's into AI or video/graphics rendering or some such.

I suspect that, in the end, this is a very energy-inefficient way of heating one's home, etc.

The heat is stored in a water/glycol tank. Here in Canada, your typical house heating system will consume 20kWh while it is being used. The heatminer on the other hand consumes 10kWh at a constant rate. In case of power outage, there is enough heat stored in the tank to heat a home for up to 48 hours!

You just planted 0.09 tree(s)!

Thanks to @rufusfirefly

We have planted already 5560.17 trees
out of 1,000,000

This could be a candidate product/solution for SteemHunt.

lol why did I not think of that... XD

DPOS is still better :) because this is not an efficient way of creating and distributing heat

Good Lookin' out @acidyo As Always!!

There are probably way too many miners or mining farms out there that aren't harvesting any free heat as a byproduct of generating income... Not only is it financially responsible but evenmore so it is Evrinomentally Responsible of any Miner

Like your little piece here bro
Just in case any voters didn't read the post

Well said!

:) Thanks again for sharing this

Interesting :) Hey acidyo! A lot of people talked about you at Steemfest! Wish you were there! :D

Hey! Yeah I'm annoyed that I couldn't attend :( hopefully next time!
Did you have fun?

Yeah I had lots of fun!! I'm sure you're going to love Steemfest too! :D
So I should looking for cute little blue cat next year, right? Hehe

Haha yeah or maybe I'll decide to show my real face but ask everyone not to take photos. :3

Wow! This is so innovative
I love the innovation

Well that's great for the current season, but is there an equivalent elegant cooling solution for summer heat? That's the real kicker. Most of us will only see summers heat up during their lifetime...
