Do His Will.
We should be wary of false teachings which is why the Bible told us to show ourselves approved, a workman who is not ashamed. We should not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus and should seek to always know when we hear anything our Spirit isn't okay with. We have the Holy Spirit who will help us in all truth.
There are a lot of people who think that as long as they pray and call upon the name of the Lord, they will be saved. It's okay to call on God and believe in Him but you have to do His will. His will has been given to us in the Bible and the standards can never change.
The truth is, even if you keep on praying, even if you keep on calling on the name of the Lord, you will not be saved if you are not fulfilling His will as instructed by the Bible. You cannot claim to love God and not desire to do things to please Him. You can't love the world and love God at the same time. You cannot serve God and serve the world at the same time.
Matthew 7:21 (NIV)
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
To enter into the kingdom of Heaven, you have to do the will of the Father; that is, you have to keep His commandments and you have to do what the Father wants you to do and Jesus perfectly exemplified this when He was on earth. He wished for the cup to pass over Him but He said not as He willed but as God desires. We don't live for ourselves which is what we need to understand. We live for God. In Him, we live and have our being. To live is Christ and to die is gain.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 (NIV)
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.
The first duty of every man is to obey God’s commandments. We have so many people teaching different doctrines which have nothing to do with the Bible but we need to study the Word and know for ourselves. All the practices most people observe fall under idolatry especially if the focus is taken off God and if they are in direct contrast with the teachings of God in the Bible. Such practices will not bring you to heaven because we are to follow the will of Him that made us, not man-made fabrications.
To be saved and become an heir of heaven, you have to obey God’s commandments, not man-made. Do not defy the commandments of God. Idolatry; statues and graven are outright defiances of God’s commandment. They should not be made objects of worship, even if they are made of gold and silver.
Acts 17:29 (NIV)
“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill.
To think that God can be represented in graven images and statues made of gold, silver, and stone is totally wrong. God is not man. How can the creation be made as a reflection of the creator? We are the only ones made in His image and even at that, we are redeemed to be called His.
Idolatry or taking the center stage off God is prohibited by God. However, His prohibition is not limited to worshipping graven images alone or having too much cares for the world, it includes the carving of statues and graven images that others use as a mean of worship too.
Deuteronomy 5:8-9 (NIV)
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
God is deserving of our worship. Anything that takes the stage off God is an enemy of God. If you profess that you love God, it is unto Him that you should render your worship, reverence, and devotion. He is a jealous God.
We are to pray to God, we are to worship God and give reference to His name. His Will has been perfectly stated in the Bible and it won't change.
It is not everyone who calls on the name of the Lord that would be saved. God watches the heart while humans judge with the face value. Face value is always a false value. God knows the thoughts of every man. It is your obedience to God’s teachings and commandments that will qualify you to enter the kingdom of heaven and that includes accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, modelling the life that Jesus lived while He was here on earth. The Bible is still the standard if we are to follow the Will of God.
