Contest: Do you know what Dentistry is?

in Healthy Steem11 months ago

Dentistry means all about taking care of our teeth, gums, and mouth. When we have toothaches, cavities, or gum disease, we can see our dentist. A healthy mouth means a happy life, but most people don’t pay attention until they get an issue with their teeth.

Do you know the term toothache?

Toothache refers to any discomfort we experience in and around our teeth. This can happen due to various reasons such as cavity, injury, or infection. I am sure most of us have had this experience at some point. Some toothaches are minor, while others are very strong even we are unable to eat, sleep, or speak. During my school years, we were checked by the dentist once every three months. Then they cleaned our teeth for free, and therefore, I never experienced toothache as a child.

Tell me about any experience where you have had a toothache.

When I was a youngster, I used to eat a lot of sweets like chocolate and toffee. I knew that after eating them need to wash our teeth well. Even though our parents and teachers advised us to brush our teeth before going to bed and after eating sweets, I never did so as I was too lazy back then. Because of this, I had to have five teeth pulled on both sides of my jaw when I was an elder.

Recently, while eating a guava, one of my teeth broke and caused some pain. Not only that, but whenever I eat or drink something cold, my teeth tingle. Therefore, I visited our dentist, and he recommended a special mouthwash and toothpaste. I am currently using it to relieve the ache.

Do you know why dental pain always occurs at night?

Yes, it is common to feel toothache pain more during the night. There could be several reasons for this. While we are lying down, our blood flow increases to our head, putting additional pressure on our painful teeth. Furthermore, because we don't pay attention to many things at night, we feel more discomfort. Such discomfort is avoidable if we can sleep fast.

Many people use natural medicine to relieve dental pain, tell me which one you have used or which one you know.

I have used various natural remedies for toothache. I put cinnamon oil on a piece of cotton wool and placed it on the aching teeth. In addition, I washed my mouth with salt water. Furthermore, I applied cloves to my tooth to help relieve numbness. However, all of these methods only provide some comfort and a short-term remedy. Therefore, I finally consulted with my dentist.

Do you self-medicate or do you go to a consultation to find out the origin and treatment plan for your discomfort?

As I previously mentioned, I have used several self-mediation methods, but all those are temporary solutions. Therefore, I went to a dentist to find out what was causing my toothache and get the necessary treatment that I needed.

Conclusion

Finally, I believe that good dental hygiene is essential for our well-being. Therefore, we should see a dentist every three months, or whenever we are experiencing pain. In addition, good habits such as brushing our teeth before going to bed, and avoiding harmful foods are essential for protecting our teeth.
