Future Food Episode 03 - Taste testing Joylent with Kylo Ren and The White Ninja
Today it's been five weeks on solely Joylent. And I have tried all flavours of Joylent during these weeks. Unfortunatly they ran out of Apple Cinnamon. The chocolate left the house pretty much after 6 meals. It kept tasting like metal, It was a subtle taste, though. My personal favourite took a while to figure out because I was trying all sorts of different mixes. The one that became a game changer in terms of flavour plus stamina boosting was 100 gr Wake Up Call and 80 gr Vanilla with ice cold water.
After 5 weeks I wanted to try a new brand of meal replacement shakes. (More about that in the next post) I figured I'd ask Kylo Ren and The White Ninja to come and help me out with a little taste testing. Earlier this year I had the honour to curate an exhibition with works by Kylo Ren in my very own kitchen. It was there that I realised that Kylo Ren had trained himself with the skills of the fine arts as thought by the ancient old masters.
Unfortunately, I already devoured all my bags of Mango and also sent back the Chocolate ones so we could only test the remaining flavours Banana, Wake Up Call, Vanilla and Strawberry.
Have a look at the next video to see which flavour turned out to become the choice of stamina enhancer for the dark side.
In the next Episode, I will talk about another meal replacement brand which has provided me with their food for the documentary project. There called Jake and they have 3 version of their meals; Original, Light and Sports. All of them are Vanilla flavoured. Less is more?

How AWESOME! I love your post! What a clever way to include kids without revealing their identity. And Kylo Ren & White Ninja are most excellent!
Make mine Strawberry!
Thnx for your reply! That's exactly my intention; working with my son (and friends of his) trough anonymity. I think they should first understand the concept of online identity in a bit more depth :)
Hey are you familiar with author, Bruce Sterling?
You might enjoy these speculative fiction novels of his. He is a futurist and I remember first hearing about future food in one of these two books:
Holy Fire
And Islands in the net
Cheers!
The name rings a bell, but it's been a while since I have read fiction. Perhaps a good chance to pick it up again!
I love the artwork of 'Islands in the Net'!!
